He was very fun to watch. At best he may have been in the top 20 of point guards. His main flaw was that he was a turnover machine.

I liked him as a highlight guy but didn't think much of him as a player. Was an afterthought when I watched the game. The kid had balls though, would try shyt no one else would try.

He got more disciplined as he got older, especially when he got to Miami. That 2006 title year was by far his best season in terms of being a complete point guard.

I thought this was about Espn analyst Jason Williams for some reason when I read the title. I assumed that the sentiment of 90% of these comments was always the consensus on WC: Entertaining but not great.

I liked ESPN JWill at Duke. I always wondered what his NBA career would have looked like.

That whole kings team was awesome to watch. Webber, Hedo, Peja, Williams

:unimpressed: And yes the refs rescued the fukk out the lakers in game 7

Different team. Kings got rid of him for Bibby.

He was really turnover prone because he thought he could thread the needle wherever he wanted but made some passes that made you go :wow:

Once Hubie got him he really made him into a useful part and he was a big factor in the 2006 Miami Finals win(I think he went off in one of those games)

I used to think Jason Williams was very overrated when he played, but now I think he's the most overrated player ever.

I was pissed when Slam had him on the cover when he averaged 12 & 6 while shooting 37%:scust:

Style over substance. No one ever confused him with a great PG - even during that time.

Sick player. Was never in the top tier of PGs, but was a very entertaining and solid option.
Saw lanes and played at a pace that caught defenders off-guard. Incredible vision that few PGs possess. Wasted away on garbage Grizzlies teams.
Some of the best bounce passes the game has seen. Probably the best "drop" passer I've ever seen. Could finish breaks in a variety of ways.

Had obvious limitations. Couldn't shoot like guys like Nash and Hardaway. Wasn't a natural scorer like Van Exel and Rose. Wasn't a gawd general like Kidd, but who really was at that time...

Baron Davis is clearly a tier or two ahead of a guy like Jason Williams.

He's boys with Randy Moss.

He was one of the first guys I saw that had the ability to suddenly change height, angle, and handedness of the pass at the last second. In game. Rondo has a lot of this in his game as well.

He did not waste away in Memphis. In fact Hubie Brown Saved his career

In a post Jordan era the league needed stars

Hip Hop was taking over pop culture you had a guy like AI & on the opposite end of the spectrum you had “The White Boy”

He sold tickets
He sold merchandise
He made people watch

He was fun to look at but even than we knew he was not efficient and you couldn’t win with him...which is why a lot of people didn’t mind the Bibby trade while less exciting he was a better fit for the kings in regards to playing winning ball. More efficient player, made the right pass, played within himself.

Jason Williams played for the crowd and excitement...Not saying it’s not a place for that but when you are trying to compete for a ship that won’t work.
