GTA is tied to American culture so it will always be predominately set in North America, this wont change, Max Payne is the franchise to be used for other exotic/foreign locations. They've already based the games on past eras, San Andreas was the 90's, Vice City and GTA 3 were 80's, so there's no need to do it again. They've now clearly gone for a modern, real world/time up to date setting as seen with GTA4 which was set in 2008 and GTA 5 which is probably set in 2013 or affter 2008.

The next GTA game will be set in a modern Vice city and probably Las Venturas those two go well together.

I think it'd be cool if for a DLC for GTA V, they set it in Vegas. Vegas is oly a 3-4 hour drive from LA. They could link it to the current game and allow you to fly there quickly.
they gotta really exaggerate the strip or at least make all of the buildings with interiors and a buncha mini-games cuz the strip is only 3 miles long but that would be piff.

problem is a modern vice city would be flat out boring, the whole appeal of miami was based out of the 80s, so im not sure that would work. I think they can go back into the past, its opens up a lot of room for nostalgia w/ the soundtracks, movies and events which is what GTA is all about now. I think going into the future is definitely a bad idea tho or too far into the past.

I think Chicago would be a great location. It has gangs, diverse areas (south side vs Michigan ave), and well known landmarks.
If they did chicago they should also add cities like detroit, and Indianapolis, and cover the areas between them (like the midwest)
The weather effects in this area would be :ohlawd:. You'd have to deal with everything from a blizzard to a tornado :damn:

Bama born and bred
Miami, Florida a.k.a "Vice City"

They can have you play as a haitian Zoe Pound gang member or a Cuban refugee new to the city looking for a come up by any means.

Any one of those would be interesting.

70's blaxploitation in a city like Chicago or Harlem with a "Black Caesar" or "Shaft" like character rising up through the ranks. Give him a war veteran background like "Dead Presidents" and go from there.

If they want to stay with the rotation of 3 characters, copy "3 the Hard Way", where we can rotate between characters from the movie played by Jim Kelly, Fred Williamson and Jim Brown who come together to fight the "man", maybe replace one of the men with a "Foxy Brown" character...

The music in the game would be incredible, grab all the blaxploitation soundtracks from the 70's (Shaft, Superfly, The Mack) and add in the Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Beatles, The Stones, etc.

:to: THIS :wow:
