Believe it or not DC and chitown was using the same slang n had similarities for a while.
I had a homie from the chi back in 03-04 and we used to argue about this same shyt slang, style of clothes, cornrolls,dreads etc.

I’m not going to get into a who started what back and forth. Truthfully unless you’re like 50+ you’ll probably never truly know. We all picked some shyt up from an older gen who got it from their older heads who got it from wherever. With that said I’ll leave this here
