Someone mentioned trains :krs:

Train simulators replaced model trains for the younger gen of train buffs from what I seen. I have both train sim classic and train sim world installed on my PC.

Also collecting model trains is NOT a broke boi hobby, the trains themselves cost hundreds of dollars.

300 for four NYC subway cars :damn:

400 for one Amtrak locomotive :damn:

I think the reason model trains fell in addition to sims is the price.

Also train sim more realistically recreate the real thing (visually :whoa: not operations wise :whoa: ) compared to model trains

The old man across the street from me had an elaborate model train set. I had no clue the train simulator games looked this good, gotta check em out. In college I volunteered at the local historical museum and they too had a large model train set in their basement. I don't have the time or space for it, but I bet there is a ton of good model train gear being sold off at estate sales for cheap, as there are more model train enthusiasts dying off than entering the hobby. If I ever visit Germany, I want to visit this place in Hamburg.

I need some healthier/inexpensive hobbies…idc if they’re perceived as “adult” or not

I see folks out here routinely walking/jogging/running, biking, taking extensive walks with their dogs and not just for them to piss/shyt (does that count as a hobby?)…playing basketball, tennis etc. when I pass by the park

I hate to paint contrasts between white and black ppl especially if they’re rooted in stereotypes but in the previous neighborhoods I’ve lived in I’ve never seen ppl so consistently active REGARDLESS of the weather or their ages…kinda makes me feel guilty about sitting around even tho I’m in better shape than a lot of them (at least outwardly)
