Nowak torturing Oczy was difficult to watch. Though, Badeni immediately confessed when Nowak was going for Oczy's eyes, speaks on two levels. The first, Badeni can empathize the feeling of losing his eyesight. Also, Oczy's eyes are a gift and if he is going to die, let him at least keep that.
Man, I love the character development for both Badeni and Oczy. For Badeni wanting to carry over his work was big, but for him to confess to save Oczy is something we haven't seen from him before. In his time with Oczy we have seen Badeni grow more human. For Oczy even in the face of death, he looks at the stars and mentions he is going to heaven. Considering how Oczy started out for him to such big conviction as he meets his end is so spectacular to see.
I love the callback to Rafal. We know how much that kid's final words spoke to Nowak. To see someone like die for what he believes in. I loved the line of only a 12-year-old would dare to move the world. It basically emphasizes that the older you are, it is easy to fall in the trap of thinking what's the point, nothing is going to change. I am a little confused how Oczy's notebook can spark that change if it was burned. Unless there is something I am missing.
I did not expect we're jumping to a Jolenta torture scene so soon. At the end of the day, interacting with a heretic is enough that can arrest you. Though, the fact that Antony can create a false conclusion just because Jolenta is a woman is sickening.
I give credit to the young kid for sticking to what he believes in. As we have seen, Oczy in the previous two episodes for believing in his own faith. So too does this young man. In his heart, he knew that accusing Jolenta was wrong. I got a bad feeling about him surviving, but I wonder where Jolenta goes next.
