The Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer. First and foremost, this is one of my de facto GOAT manga. I always felt that it never wouldve had the chance to get animated cause, honestly, it just wasn't popular enough.
To the point where I actually told myself that despite hoping it would get animated, that if it ever did then my imminent death would be right around the corner.
And here we are.
Am I really gonna die over something with such mediocre production values? I refuse.
What I hated: THE PRODUCTION VALUES. fukking hell. I'm not trying to compare it to the top tier looking joints I've seen, cause honestly it being too flashy would've severely undermined it. But WTF.
What I DID like: Everything else. They almost 1 for 1ing it. Very faithful adaptation.
Unfortunately, I doubt this is gonna win the story any new fans.
I actually liked how they made the 01 golem move faster than the "human" eye could follow. That's not something that was portrayed in the manga like that. It made it feel like even this early on was too much for the regular human to handle.
I cant really get in depth for spoiler reasons. All I can say is:
1. I enjoyed it despite how it looked, but that may be nostalgia. Watching it actually made me realize some things.
2. Even if it goes a few seasons, I highly doubt it
gets into the backstories of the other beast knights. This season will prolly end with Sami avenging Hangetsu (The Dog Knight)'s death.
but you never know. There's been PLENTY of shows that have had folks wondering why they're still airing. I

yeah, I checked Call of the Night too and it's a cool show, the night setting is dope as hell. Story is whatever but it's still early.
Never seen Class of the Elite, will probably check it out eventually to binge the current season.
Chainsaw Man is an incredibly entertaining and kind of unique mix of fukkery and battle shonen formula. If they adapt it right it's gonna be a massive hit.
Chainsaw Man the manga is elite and the team working on the anime seems like it's stacked (I saw a lot of JJK credits on the staff).
Classroom of the Elite is like a bizarro Kaguya Sama Love is War to me...They both have students trying to outwit each other, though Kaguya is light hearted and jokes while Elite is darker and more serious. I have it something I could throw on if there's not much else to watch, but that's about it. To be fair, I'm more into action and horror anime so I'm not the best to consult about it though.

Classroom of the Elite is more like a Shonen battle manga but the super powers are intelligence and the ability to predict what an opponent will do and counter it.
Kaguya is a mixture of a romcom and gag series. COTE actually does have romance in it too but not in year one that's in year two which doesn't have an announced anime yet.

I wouldn't really compare it to battle manga, but I kinda see what you mean. It does give me a bit of Death Note vibes, with the characters setting traps and countering them though. My Kaguya comparison is less about romance and more about the mental battles and traps. Kaguya tells you the traps ahead of time for gags whereas CotE uses them to increase the drama or sometimes doesn't even tell you what the plan was until after the fact for that purpose.
I watched a few episodes and already know I'm gonna be a fan of this ish. I never read the manga for it either, so this is a completely fresh experience. I'm hype!
It took the position change for me to finally get invested on this show. Before that it's a pretty by the numbers sports anime. And Ashyto is an insufferable MC, him having to become a full back finally gave him and the show something worth developing and watching.

From what I heard early on Call of the Night is more SoL and turns into more action. I'm intrigued what that actually means.
As far as COTE goes. IMO watching S1 should give you a solid enough feel whether you want to read it or not. I thought S1 was solid even with the issues it had. It is one of the most highly acclaimed Light novels.

However S2's pacing is setting a new level of garbage pacing. The drama aspects are still good, but it feels like you are missing information. You get no time to understand the rules of the games. Which is giant portion of the show. Even with S3 coming out next year I'm just gonna start reading source when I get to it.
The first few episodes be like that. It does get better. Granted as far as rom-coms this year it is not a Kaguya or Koiseki. Still for wholesome SoL Rom-com, you won't find much better. Beyond that show does have issues. Hachimitsu is fukking hilarious tho

They literally sit around in COTE talking smack to each other about power levels and who's stronger than who else. It's like how Food Wars is a battle manga at it's heart but about characters doing battle through cooking food. COTE is a battle manga at it's heart but about characters doing battle through intelligence and schemes. That's also what Death Note is.
