Watched two more new seasonal premires. (My last two)

The first being Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer. Now if these had an adaptation on the level of SxF for example it prob would be an AOTS candidate. But the animation and production all around look really really rough to put it nicely. Story and characters seem interesting so far. Tho a talking Lizard out of nowwhere :mjlol: . It definitely seems like if you got time to read the manga that would be the much better option.

The 2nd was When Will Ayumu Make His Move? Very simple rom-com. First episode seemed very cute and wholesome. If you are looking for a safe seasonal rom-com this prob is your only option. (Considering the rest are either trash or bait because of their title)

The Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer. First and foremost, this is one of my de facto GOAT manga. I always felt that it never wouldve had the chance to get animated cause, honestly, it just wasn't popular enough.

To the point where I actually told myself that despite hoping it would get animated, that if it ever did then my imminent death would be right around the corner.

And here we are.

Am I really gonna die over something with such mediocre production values? I refuse.:mjcry:

What I hated: THE PRODUCTION VALUES. fukking hell. I'm not trying to compare it to the top tier looking joints I've seen, cause honestly it being too flashy would've severely undermined it. But WTF.

What I DID like: Everything else. They almost 1 for 1ing it. Very faithful adaptation.

Unfortunately, I doubt this is gonna win the story any new fans.

I actually liked how they made the 01 golem move faster than the "human" eye could follow. That's not something that was portrayed in the manga like that. It made it feel like even this early on was too much for the regular human to handle.

I cant really get in depth for spoiler reasons. All I can say is:

1. I enjoyed it despite how it looked, but that may be nostalgia. Watching it actually made me realize some things.

2. Even if it goes a few seasons, I highly doubt it
gets into the backstories of the other beast knights. This season will prolly end with Sami avenging Hangetsu (The Dog Knight)'s death.

but you never know. There's been PLENTY of shows that have had folks wondering why they're still airing. I

Really good anime. Still ain’t met anyone IRL that watched it. At times the plot don’t feel like it’s going to a set conclusion. I have four episodes left of season 3
Bungo Stray Dogs? The anime that no one watches that keeps getting seasons :dead:
Like Strike The Blood :wow:

Bungo starts off too slow and I always end up dropping it before the end of the first season.

Finished a rewatch of Now & Then, Here & There (1999)

I think this is the rawest depiction of war I've seen in an anime, along the lines of Grave of Fireflies except more thorough, and though the story is almost entirely bleak it's also just being matter of fact about the experiences of child soldiers and POW's under the rule of an unhinged dictator. It doesn't give the protagonists any easy outs to escape their situations. They just have to do their best to try to live long enough to see things through.

Lots of themes explored in just 13 episodes. One of them was that children are inherently innocent, but can so easily become corrupted as a causality of war. The story of Nabuca was a tragic example of that. Abducted from his village as a kid, brainwashed to fight a war for the benefit of a dictator, turns into a stone faced killer who deludes himself into thinking his actions will lead to a positive resolution. A lot of his peers share that fate and its heartbreaking in every instance. The end of Episode 12…..rough.

Another is the choice of not taking revenge to continue a cycle of violence. A lot of victims try to pay the dictator back for destroying their families but in doing so they usually wind up placing their communities in even more danger. The show doesn't necessarily preach against taking revenge, in a lot of scenes it creates an argument to the morally righteous protagonist of why its rational to want that, but it is saying that you better be prepared for the inevitable consequences of war if you go looking for it.

I appreciate this show for being a true subversion of a genre. It's a trapped in another world fantasy except the setting a dystopian desert with limited resources. The MC is wants to be a hero that saves the day but almost immediately winds up getting imprisoned and spends much of the run being tortured. Has so much ambition but is ultimately unable to change anything by himself, because he’s just a kid. Zero wish fulfillment in a genre that prides itself on that.

It’s a 10 in my book. Very dark, because almost all the violence is either at the expense of kids or are committed by them, but necessarily so for the kind of story it is and the resolution was satisfying, even if bittersweet.

I’m watching Michiko and Hatch.

I know I’m hella late, but nobody I talk to in real life has heard of it, so personally I think it’s probably the most slept on Anime for the black community.

-The vibe is so amazing.

Set in a Latin world with a colorful backdrop.

-plenty black characters, that look like regular folk. No goofy looking minstrel show bs.

-the storylines are “ok” but the artwork and action always makes up for it.

- Michiko is clearly supposed to be modeled after the RnB singer Aaliyah

I like that her character isnt perfect, she beating people ass!

but still be acting like a bird. (The main plot of the show is her on a dumbass bird mission)

*Dont spoil me, I haven’t finished it yet, but goddamn she doing way too much for some dikk :russ:

Her character flaw makes sense because she’s raised in the streets, and was never giving a opportunity to be nothing better. bytch can’t barely read or write. But she got a pretty face and can throw hands, so in her eyes that’s all she needs.

-Hatch is annoying but a 8 year old in her situation is supposed to be. She kinda one note, but I guess more to her story will be revealed.

-Honestly I would be cool if it was just Michiko tottin, bopping, running the fade with every nikka that gets in her way. But I guess Hatch is there to drive the plot and challenge Michiko moral compass, so I’m with it.

I can’t wait to finish it.
