very slow plot
poor world-building
wasn't that funny

no reason to care about the main characters
SpyxFamily is one of the few shows to receive near universal praise, so I respect you having the guts to go against the grain on this one. :ehh:

Not gonna stop 42 and the others from coming at your neck tho. Watch your back.

The ranking for Mid is an even 5/10.

7.5/10 equates to a pretty good show.

Your scale is off
there is so much choice and competition now, that the scales have to be recalibrated
7 years ago a 7.5 rated pretty good show was relatively rare
now there are half a dozen anime every season that fit the criteria

rewatching Now and Then, Here and There. I've long considered this the most depressing anime ever created, but I think it deserves more credit than just being sad because of how straightforward and honest it is in a medium that likes to sugarcoat stuff.

The premise starts off like a random isekai. A boy sees a mysterious girl in danger. He goes to help her, winds up teleporting in some foreign environment that is in the middle of a war and ruled by a tyrannical dictator.

You'd expect the boy to be the hero in this situation. Save the girl, resolve the war, overthrow the dictator.

This anime says no he's a regular human boy so what's about to happen is he's gonna get stomped out by everyone, brutally. He's gonna have to become a child soldier and watch his contemporaries, also children, suffer too with no relief in sight. And there's no 2nd chances at life like what Re:Zero tries to do.

Happy ending? No. It just kinda stays dark with some moments of triumph here and there, but its small in comparison to all the pain going on.

This is mostly just what I recall from the first watch so I'm interested in how that perspective changes the 2nd time.

Chrono Crusade just due to the ending. It said something unpleasant was going to happen to the main characters in the end and it didn't back down from that. It was a complete tone departure from the rest of the anime.

Nope…. We not changing the laws and rules….. just cuz there have been a lot of good to really good shows out there don’t mean we adjust the scales.

I’m sorry maybe you got desensitized…. But look at that as a good thing. We not fukking up the scales though

Mid IS and will remain a 5 (maybe 6)

1+2 It's a SoL Comedy that is the nature with these type of shows. I think they gave us enough given the type of show it is.

3 That's the thing with comedy, it's completely subjective. To me Anya was fukking hilarious every episode, but even if you don't it's fine. Just means the show isn't for you.

I will agree in terms of Yor they could have done better. Granted the 2nd half of the show showed signs here and there that her character is improving. Hopefully she is better come part two. Anya and Loid killed it tho.

With the Classroom of the Elite S2 starting today, I'd recommend this for the people who liked Yuuichi from Tomodachi Game. The MC Ayankouji has a lot of similarities to him.

Might be one of those shows where I rewatch the previous episode before the new one.
