How would you rate Kuma Kuma Bear? I watched the first episode a whiiiiile back cause it gave me BOFURI vibes but i've been holding off on shows this season so I can binge em later

I like it. They're trying to be more serious with the world building (still fluff, but it's more like "town building")

they're trying to not have the protagonist be so SEVERELY OP (she still hasn't met a threat)

they're doing more serious topics (still kinda fluffy. in an Animal Crossing sorta way.... sometimes)

Story's a bit tighter than "we leveling up! my friends are, too! Watch us quest and level up for the guild fights!" (she the only "player" there, the loose narrative of her "living" in this world is still the only story)

and I said it in my last post, but the protagonist's personality adds SO much to this story. It's like she has Kazuma from KonoSuba's "Seen it all, did it all, IDGAF" personality, but without the perv (not as morally gray, either. But Kazuma may as well be a villain protagonist). Hell, even the voice actress isn't the high pitched shrilly shyt you'd expect.

low key negged

i was really concerned at first, but its actually legit and can stand on its own

a few changes here and there too despite the condensed story

i don't know if i could pick an AoTD man... like for real

it might be easier to pick a best episode than a best franchise - and that hands down goes to a Violet Evergarden ep :to: which fukks me up TIL THIS DAY

yeah, it's been too much crack in the last 10 years. Studios started taking this shyt SERIOUSLY.

I was trying to narrow i down earlier today.... I can't.

It really has been like how we view Music, right.

In Ye Olde Times, nobody was thinking about this shyt. folks just listened to what they liked.

then the 90's came. And The Source, due to lack of better.... erh.. "sources"... became the Bible to what was "The Best"

then The Source fell off, and everything stopped being so regionalized as the major studios started simply gravitating to what was popping in order to sell records and stay afloat

Now, everything is becoming more "regionalized" again, but WAY MORE people in higher places are paying attention to what's "popping"

so, do you go by

what was more popular?
Impact?
what spawned the most copycats?
what was the best example of the art, but didn't sell as much?

the best combination of the above?

cause we can all name examples of each of those... and they'd prolly be different. :mjcry:

edit: holy shyt. I'm logging out. I 'm startng to sound like Artt Barr. :mjcry:

Anime of decade

attack on Titan or hxh
Impact on anime community can’t be understated how it was talked about and still is to this day

I could also say rezero even with just 2 seasons

Demon slayer love I didn’t get but what I love about it is the character development and interaction with them all
The past of the characters then the fights are strategical and no one is safe it seems so I understand the hype behind imo and is my fav manga at this moment

Fire force i haven’t seen season 2 but loved season 1 so gotta get to that

tpn manga that shyt is pure fukkery but damn good

boruto manga is flames for me without spoiling
Mha just can’t get right it’s not bad I enjoy but it can’t stick the landing for shyt when it’s always has a opportunity

black clover for me personally has potential to do great things cuz it knows what it is and keeps it’s simple but can shock u with certain fights

a few series that have got me rejuggling my list the way they are going can’t front so my top 10 will change I feel

+rep, cause it's like you typing responses to my last post before I posted them

Attack On Titan hitting the culture was like being in middle school/high school experencing prime Wayne dropping mixtapes and albums and literally everyone was into.

I agree it's between AOT or HXH.

That fukk nikka togashi need to stop playing with my emotions. :mjcry:. We should be 6 arcs later and basically at the end of the series with the anime catching up. And yes every OP should have the "YOU CAN SMILEEEEEEE AGAINNNNN" :mjcry:

its good enough for what it is. ain't no way it was ever getting a 1:1 remake considering the size and quality of the original.

they could've easily Berserk'd this shyt :scust: and you've seen what they've done to ghost in the shell recently too :mjcry:

Did they change anything to the series? Legend of the Galatic Heros might be too graphic and political for this climate. If it's faithful to the series I'll check it out. But nah I didn't see what they did Ghost in the Shell. To be honest that's one confusing ass series to keep up with. I can't imagine with what happened to it. I can't actually shyt on anime doing remakes because HxH 2011 exist. And the Berserk shyt is fire to me.

one thing I can say about this thread and the people who frequent it....

we may act like we don't get along, but as a collective, we watch damn near EVERYTHING that's anywhere near remotely worth watching.

:heh: it's not slander. I simply didn't think it was GREAT. sometimes, good.

:manny: 30 million people love it. That's on y'all. I'd rather talk about the stuff I like and hope somebody else likes them.

:mjlol: any posts where you see me taking jabs at anime fans should be taken with a grain of salt. I'm just jabbing brehs with a butterknife.

Any shows you see me going ":sadcam: PLEASE watch this show nobody is checking for and here's WHY!" should be taken into consideration, and they're gonna be rare.

Anything else is either me weighing in on shows I like that other cats like or me going on about this show about this girl in this bear suit. (or any other weird ass shows. I be stanning. I got into Kaiji/Akagi/one Outs because I was watching a loli mahjongg anime called Saki)

I mean... I don't like Charlotte Flair all that much, either. Having a cloak of nepotism covers up her actual talent. And she got talent.

You ain't gonna see me harass you about it every time I see you though... right :troll:

Man fukk fan bases tbh. Even the best series got squares in it's fanbase. I'm picking on them too. :wow:
:heh: I'll never be a soldier in another internet FanWar.

I hate the phrase ":gucci: y'all was hyping this up!?"

would find it easier making a top 5 anime of every year since the late 90s than an anime of the decade. So much to choose from and it's hard to seperate shows in entirely different genres.

I'd put HxH 2011 in the same tier with Sangatsu Lion, Gintama and Natsume Yuujinchou. which are nothing alike. maybe doing it by genre would be better.

Ive been rewatching FMAB past month & half & actually shocked how well it holds up, it may be better in 2020 than 2012

Signs of a legitimately good anime. :whew:

Still holds up on the re-watch even if you consider the animation old. :wow:

Yu Yu Hakusho still holds up too :whew:

As I go through it & had a convo w/ my boy, I was wondering has a shounen ever had an ensemble of characters we are invested in, that all play a major role in the story AND overlap each other from start to finish.

Off the top of my head
Yu Yu
Kenshin
HXH 2011
DBZ (early on)

Watching this climax, there are about 20-25 interesting characters, they all are broken up into groups, and it has a Star Wars feel of there 7 different battles going on at the same time. Everything is intertwined

I see it like this:

What happens if I remove the main protagonist and their group? Will the world stagnate, or will fukkery and piff still pop off?

If you can answer yes, then the author/writer did a good job of building their world and the story so that its interesting outside of the protagonists main group.

Its why at a baseline, even though I may not like what they've turned into, shyt like Naruto is at least respectable.

Toriyama is trying to do it now with Super, but he started this shyt way too late with the multiverse and shyt actually happening outside of Goku's scope.
