yooooo has anyone read Shuumatsu no valkyrie aka Records of Ragnarok? :feedme:

Shuumatsu no Valkyrie - MangaMutiny

The series is nothing but pure action!...This is what GOH should have been lol

The story begins when the gods call a convention to decide whether to let humanity live or die, and settle on destroying humanity. But a lone valkyrie puts forward a suggestion to let the gods and humanity fight one last battle, as a last hope for humanity's continued survival. 13 gods will fight against 13 human champions in one-on-one battles to decide whether humanity lives or dies.

I love how fast the pacing this series is. The fights start right away.......no talking, just straight hands between gods and humans.

The fight between Adam vs Zeus :mjlit:

I can definitely see this series becoming an anime soon considering its the top selling manga in Japan right now.

Understandable. Not for everyone.

I'm able to enjoy this in part because it is different; original Inuyasha wasn't very good. I more so appreciate it for childhood nostalgia reasons.

To your points, I'd say -

Sesshomaru's daughters are half demons, not full. So they won't be as strong as him.

We've barely seen the extent of their abilities, so we don't know how strong they are.

The timeline approach makes the story less predictable. It can go in any number of directions from here, and if you are a newcomer then you aren't at a disadvantage compared to older viewers who've known the lore since the 90s. This is a "sequel" in the sense of what takes place after the original story, but it includes a different cast who doesn't abide by the rules of the former and can have their own contained journey.

I like the approach they've taken with the series, and how it figures to be different than what the original creator made. Because she has a number of tropes that tend to kill progression in her worlds. A lot of people find those tropes to be frustrating, even if they like her stuff. This show going away from her formula and creating something new can become a positive.

It being written by someone else is all that needs to be said. You may dislike the original but the first 25 or 50 episodes are as good as it gets in terms of storytelling, character/world building, coherence etc. Naturally a series will fall off the longer it goes.

This series on the other hand comes off as a poorly thought out fan fiction. For instance, why does that one daughter have that tail/scarf thing. If it's just for fashion, then its just pandering fan service bs. Also how are they half demons but look human/full demon? It's trying to have it both ways by tying itself to the original but making up their own shyt on the fly. A clean break from the original would've been better.

Huh. I'd disagree that Inuyasha is "as good as it gets" in the first 25 or 50 episodes.

I don't think they look entirely human nor full demon.

We're essentially on episode 1, with the prior being an adaptation of the epilogue.

Yashahime is the most viewed anime on Japanese TV stations this season. They want to approach both old and newer viewers. It's working.

I like Inuyasha. Was my favorite anime for a number of years. I don't like it enough to ignore flaws relative to other anime.

haven't seen enough from this newer anime to make any definitive judgements of it. Only that I like it so far and want to keep watching.

First time I'm legitimately disappointed in Asta's resolve in a long time. I understand that it's in his character, for such a talented fighter, he hates having to do it. However, looking at the stakes, he should be far more urgent. Of course this action is going to lead to him gaining the edge by preventing the other from going all out.

Still, do better. :unimpressed:

MHA Shippuden continues. :francis:

Gon definitely should be washed in this one, terrible matchup for him. :picard:
