If its anime-only, whoever wins the right side of that shounnen tournament is taking it all. It's basically like the west in basketball.

Akudama Drive looks hype. It seems like my type of anime and it's definitely on my radar but I'll give it time to cook.

I peeped that shyt last night it has potential :ehh:

shyt was jokes how shorty saving cats got her in fukkery. :mjlol:

Yashahime Episode 2 confirms speculation Rumiko isn't writing the story. None of her usual tropes were there. That's a positive for progression since she loved to stall things with comedy and teasing. It's plausible for someone to hate original Inuyasha and like this.

New age rivalry between Setsuna and Moroha is fun. Not quite like Inuyasha and Sesshomaru - more playful, but restores a similar feeling.

Moroha is both more skilled and more likable than her father. Inuyasha was a grump (albeit for good reason), Moroha is just having fun out there.

Towa is an oddity Not like Sesshomaru, her rumored mother, the Higurashi family that raised her. Didn't get to see her sword abilities, but she does have hand to hand combat which is cool

Older Kohaku made an appearance. One of the better designs Rumiko has done for a guy, hopefully has a major role in the story.

The ending theme is growing on me. Now that it's clear that show is taking a different direction, makes sense for the music to change a bit too. Less sentimental more upbeat.

I guess different strokes for different folks because I think this series/concept is TRASH so far. The timeline is all over the place and for being Sesshomaru's daughters, these girls are weak as hell (based on ep 2). The timeline is the main issue though and I'm getting Kubo vibes where they're gonna fill in the blanks and make shyt up as they go along instead of starting on a solid foundation.

Understandable. Not for everyone.

I'm able to enjoy this in part because it is different; original Inuyasha wasn't very good. I more so appreciate it for childhood nostalgia reasons.

To your points, I'd say -

Sesshomaru's daughters are half demons, not full. So they won't be as strong as him.

We've barely seen the extent of their abilities, so we don't know how strong they are.

The timeline approach makes the story less predictable. It can go in any number of directions from here, and if you are a newcomer then you aren't at a disadvantage compared to older viewers who've known the lore since the 90s. This is a "sequel" in the sense of what takes place after the original story, but it includes a different cast who doesn't abide by the rules of the former and can have their own contained journey.

I like the approach they've taken with the series, and how it figures to be different than what the original creator made. Because she has a number of tropes that tend to kill progression in her worlds. A lot of people find those tropes to be frustrating, even if they like her stuff. This show going away from her formula and creating something new can become a positive.
