Nah, not really. Baki doesn't have much character development.

Only things you gotta know is the 4 folks that you see chilling with the midget fight promoter are all "friends" because they've beat the shyt out of each other and are ranked top 4 under Baki, You can youtube their fights and get the gist of the whole series.

Ranked by fighting Prowess:

1. Baki
2. That tiny old japanese dude with glasses (not the promoter)
3. The dude that looks like Sagat
4, The dude with the braid (kenpo master)
5. The HUGE guy who dresses in suits with the scars on his face (Baki's best friend, teenager and yakuza boss)

And Baki's dad (who you'll see pop up with no explanation from time to time) is the GOAT fighter on that earth (actually called the most powerful living organism on that earth).

why isn't Pluto animated yet?

shyt would trump Monster in the eyes of fans, because there's far more sci-fi elements to hook the casual viewer.

According to wikipedia

Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment acquired the rights to Pluto in 2010 for a live-action/CGI film. No news have emerged since.

Never heard of this but you got me interested with it trumping Monster although, I just started blade of the immortal and still going through vinland saga's latest volume, and kingdom .
