the cast of YYH is pretty well developed as well. I feel the main characters were actual people instead of props that occasionally push plot. I think that what separates good from mediocre.

With Naruto, it was on a good track initially. Then we got 1/3 into Shippuden and the growth of characters outside of the 2 was mad stagnant. Same with bleach but much earlier.

I think another reason for why its so good is that the villians ( who arent TRULY villians depending on how you view them) are as interesting as the protagonist. They had so much depth

because it checks every box for a classic shounen and doesn't suffer from any of the crippling negatives like filler, drawn out battle arcs, bullshyt power ups and one dimensional characters. The fights are intense, the superpower designs are badass and fun, the villains are complex and have reasonable convictions for their beliefs and the animation holds up well today (not the aesthetic, but the actual animation. Several current industry greats got their start in YYH).

Main character isn't some weak little kid with no backbone who gets bullied and needs a power up to assert himself. Yusuke is the bully, and you get to watch him grow from a boy with no direction in his life to a man with full understanding of self and life aspirations. He's got one of the most rewarding character arcs in the genre. Kuwabara, Hiei, Kurama and just about every character central to the story are well written too.

I'd be more interested in knowing why someone

Thank you, breh.

All that needed to be said was said.

Don't forget

-legendary opening song/ pretty good closing songs
-main villains had purpose and remain legendary in the shounen world
-classic tournament arc/ other arcs are top notch
- drama and comedy mixed cohesively
- the replay factor is off the charts (doesn't have to do with Nostalgic)
- Dubbed is rare and perfect
- Side main characters are just as bad ass as the main character but doesn't outshine the main character
- top notch fights
- beautiful character growth
- Just overall amazing concept/show that could have lasted longer

Like this is why I am having a problem with the My Hero Academia fandom claiming the series is up there with the greats already. Like I grew up the ultimate Shounen nerd. The bandwagon fandom feels more forced than people thinking YYH is just a nostalgic trip.

Realistically, putting my standom for the series aside, YYH had one major flaw. The last arc/ending was rushed. I already said the series could have lasted a lot longer, which is true. The thing is, we all know Yoshihiro Togashi history of health issues. Unlike Hunter X Hunter, he decided to actually end YYH.

I love Naruto but that shyt is so flawed. Going off what you said, so many characters are pointless in the show 90 percent of the time.

I swear Neji was lit af in the beginning of the series, meant nothing for the rest, then randomly died at the end lol.
Rock Lee had some shine in the first half of the series but it started to fade away but I think he had some moments from here and there
And then you have characters like Ten Ten. Who are just in the series just because.

I think Dragonball Z series had that problem as well. You not shyt if you not a super sayian.

Is it worth watching? These metro-sexual young men in the cover made me overlook this.

Thousand Musketeers? Trash first episode.

to each his own, but the only reason I didn't turn it off was because I was too fukked up to reach the keyboard.

Concept is cool, yeah. But nah

yea i dont see yu yu as some nostalgia shyt. Mostly because i watched it waaaaaaaaay later than most ppl. I didnt even know it was on during the dbz days cuz all i watched was dbz. I didnt watch it til like a decade ago probably and i fukking loved it. It was just so refreshing to watch a show that showed everyone holding their own and not just the MC getting wins. Every character had strategies and feats to defeat different opponents and it was just dope af. Plus im a sucker for tournaments and this show had one of the GOAT tournaments ever. Im actually rewatching it now because of the dude on this board. shyt got me all up in my feelings right from the jump and i love this shyt :mjcry:.....if u dont like YYH u dont like shounen. Period

:francis: I may check it out being this season is so sparse as compared to last season

see, idk how you can say an anime is up there with the classics when you haven't even seen the classics. That's my problem with any talk of a show being the GOAT when they don't understand what's even in the conversation.

but MHA is that mega popular gateway anime that comes along every so often so I kinda get why the fanbase thinks that way. Back when I just started out I thought Inuyasha was incredible. Ten years later I can't watch it without cringing. MHA is better now than pre-Final Act Inuyasha ever was, but the more anime you watch the more critical you become and realize your favorite shows have been done better already decades in the past.

You could tell Togashi was getting bored with that world tournament arc, but I'll always go back to it just to see Hiei's tragic backstory that fully explains his personality up until that point, and to see Yusuke's character arc come to a close. By the end it feels like you're watching a family member graduating college or something, and you do wish it'd been longer because even 112 episodes doesn't feel like enough.

u should breh. I will admit that it takes like 5eps before they really delve into the premise of the series but i know whats to come so i love it. If you're a fan of shounen it checks the GOAT list completely. Unlike a lot of shounen tho every character eats and has growth. Even a character like kuwabara who u think will be one dimensional the first second u see him straight up shocks you by the end of the first ep. Already on ep 12 and my 3rd favorite character got introduced a couple eps back :wow: she's da gawd :ohlawd:....oh and its one of the few anime's with a fantastic english dub. I actually cant watch it subbed :pachaha:

I liked Inuyasha, a lot. :yeshrug: Part of it might be nostalgia because it's one of the few anime that I've watched with my wife. But Naraku is one of my favorite scumbag villains and Sesshomaru is well, Sesshomaru

mannn Inuyasha was pure nostalgic. I would always tune into Bionix at 10pm right before Gundam seed and Gundam seed destiny.

As a kid Naraku scared the shyt out of me.. every time he wore his baboon skin and mask...i just turned off the tv..:gucci:

Can one of you brehs give me 5 anime recommendations of the last 3-4 years? I've been catching up to a lot of stuff in the last year and a half, but I'm running out of shows at this point. I'm fine with any genre as long as its dope.
