I'd be weary of using a house as a measurement of success. Where I live (beaches of OC) the average house costs $850k. If I was still on the east coast outside of the city it would be $400k. If I moved to the South it would be half that or more.

And for those that said "Under 30 and you are ok" ha! I broke 30 before the real money started coming in.

I'm in product design. Consult on the side. Plus have a few side hustles.

Don't worry about leaving jobs early. The days where you stayed somewhere for 40 years to collect a pension are over. In some industries staying somewhere over 5 years can actually be questioned and seen as a negative much in the same way anything under a year would be.

Just show growth with your job movement. Or have a good reason for moving on.

I have advice but what are you interested in? What's your passion? Then you can decide how you can use it to make money (whether it's a 9 to 5 or starting your own thing) That's the key.

Meh, yall are still young.

Mine didn't really go anywhere until my late 20s, before that I was bouncing around BS helpdesk jobs making $15-16/hr. Got my foot in door with a "real" salaried job at 27 and them got a promotion at 29. I'd say anybody under 30 has plenty of time.

Yup

I finished school at 23, had a great internship but from 24-28 I bounced around working at a telecommunications call centre, served and bartended on the side, ran a pizzeria with my cousins, worked some contract gigs... Just bouncing around

28 though I got into an insurance company, starting 38k and just went beast mode and worked my way up, knocked off couple promotions, got up to almost 70k, bought a house, sold it, bought again, sold it, got married during that time too

Put me in a position to go to law school at 30. Now I'm 33, a lawyer, me and my wife have no debts besides a mortgage (we got 5 degrees between us which probably cost us $120-140k, all paid), we have a 33% equity in our amazing new home, and we own a piece of the family townhouse as well... And got tens of thousands banked to start my practice next year, upgrade the home etc

I say all that not to brag but to give hope to the lil homies on here. You have until 30 to at the very least have a game plan in place that youve begun executing

More than happy to answer any questions, shoot me a pm

And to provide more context, I grew up in public housing, parents in welfare, never received a dime from them etc

If I can emphasize a couple things:

1-FIND YOURSELF A GREAT WOMAN AND MARRY HER

Easier said than done I know :whoa:

But in 2017, unless you got yourself a high powered gig, aint shyt happening with one income

If you and wifey clearing 2-3000 a month each, yall live off one salary and bank the other

Save $3000 a month for 3 years, yall sitting at $100,000 cash plus yall could do a vacation a year

Depending on where yall live, that $100,000 could be a down payment on your home or you could split that, some for your own spot and then buy a rental property. Ideally, have a few hundred generated by the income property monthly, and have that pay your student loans

2-Make three year and five year plans, stick to it and adjust accordingly

Have a long term vision... Benchmarks are key to keeping you motivated and on track

Life is a muthafukka, this shyt will pass u by like it's nothing.

nikkas need to pay attention in history class....But also realize the Present is different in some respects.

Most Men historically don't get on their feet until age 30 or so. For Black Men in Amerikkka it could take longer than White boys who can be on a good track by age 25.

You will see others zoom by you but don't worry because you'll see them on their way down as well.

Basically life is like the game Halo sometimes you're king of the hill and sometimes you're at the bottom. A lot of it is just circumstance/luck.

Just be aware and opportunistic when you can. That is how I got up the mountain and I'm trying to stay here as long as possible. I been down 2x already if possible I'm trying to build a parachute so if I fall again it can be on a ridge on the midway at least and not all the way at the bottom.

I be telling dudes get yourself a Nigerian or Chinese chick with a STEM degree who has the potential to bring in 100k. Yeah it may be for the citizenship in the beginning but most of them ain't leaving once they already spent like 5-7 years with you.

Foreign chicks are not dumb they know not many good Men around (That won't whoop their ass) so they tend to lock down the first good Man they can find unlike AmeriTHOTs
