What a surprise..the Brad Maddox ref screw job at HIAC was a last min decision

F4Wonline.com reports the finish involving Brad Maddox as the referee who helps CM Punk retain the WWE Championship at Hell in a Cell was decided on last minute by Vince McMahon himself.

There was a lot of options and confusion about what WWE would book for the finish all week long.

Maddox wasn't used on Raw last night and the storyline reasoning being he is getting medical attention after Ryback got physical with him. He's expected to be at Raw next week in England.

- One idea for the finish of the CM Punk vs. Ryback Hell in a Cell main event was to have Brock Lesnar make a surprise appearance and cost Ryback the match. WWE did not go ahead with the plan, because they are still planning a Brock Lesnar vs. Triple H rematch and did not want to set up a Lesnar vs. Ryback feud with the Triple H angle still in play.

This makes total sense to me. Obviously Ryback had to be protected in a loss, but the method they chose was weak and I'm not surprised at all to hear it was a last-minute thing. People who paid for that PPV mainly for that match would be justified in feeling ripped off. It was an easy way out, and it wasn't very creative.

A bolt-cutter run-in by a monster heel would have worked much better.
