Any tips or tricks for doing the course?
Google every course ahead of time and look at the latest reddit posts for them. Often times people give you the sauce to complete assignments without having to go through the bum ass courssework. Also, if there are pre-recorded cohorts, watch those before doing anything. Depending on where you are at in life, you can speed through some courses in hours or a couple of days. Dont treat it like regular school. WGU is about speedrunning to the best answers. The text in some classes are dreadful and the mentors will agree, but you still gotta do the shyt.

Thank you breh, just trying to add some actionable things folks can do NOW to improve their situation.
Halfway through WGU degree myself. Hope all my brehs eat.
Oh damn, I'm happy to see you still giving IT that work :wow:
That's good to hear. My mindset is the opposite. I'm trying to get this degree as fast as possible. I want it out the way in 4-6 months. Just so I can put a bid in for higher-paying contract gigs.

Yeah, I already got a gang of certs. I got the majority of the certs offered for the BS Information Technology degree. I just don't have Cloud Practioner ,ITIL or Project+. I heard you can transfer them over so you don't have to take courses. All of the certs are active too not expired.

I'm going to check this out.

I'm 1 year into cloud computing. Loving it.

Hit a slow patch lately because of work so been struggling, but bout to finish the semester strong.

Anyone have any questions about it feel free to link up
:wow:
Now yall tell me folks SPEED RUNNING degrees now?!
I wasn't able to hop on this myself (I lost my job from Covid, so I had to deal with paying my rent :mjcry:)
But maybe I should take another look :jbhmm:

WGU in general is a self paced college program.

It's how ever long it takes to complete. Some folks take a year, others two.

And apparently some are done within months and it's legit.

Nice. I was doing the math and them totals for 4 years were hurting my feelings

Still in the program, bruh. 50% of the way. I started out "Lemme go through this content" for a week in the first term before I googled everything.
As for prospects, I get callbacks( nothing I want yet) and occasionally they ask about my schooling since I have it on there as in progress. Just the fact that I am going there gets brought up often enough that I figure it is worth it.

Oh yeah, I'm finna try to muscle through this WGU crap as quickly as possible. I don't want to spend more than 6 months on this crap. I already got most of the certs for the BS IT. I might sign up for that study.com site so I can complete some courses before starting and transfer them over.

doing network security BD rtight now, currently on C779

Hit a bump with Python but hoping to go through the rest easier.

Pretty mind grind all day but I'm an older student so it takes time to learn, did 9 classes in about 10 months so far, trying to speed it up

Question for you. Wouldn't it be possible for you to study the material before enrolling (for free), and then enroll afterwards and just speed through tests for 6months to get the degree? Seems like you could do the whole degree thing with 3500.

My local state school charges 550-650 per class and 500 in fees for a full time semester. Thats The net equivalent of the $3500 cost of WGU for 6 months. 7000 for the year. @stick2dascript67 since you have completed the same workload as a traditionally enrolled student (9 classes) in the year that you've been a student, why not just enroll in a normal college for more support? Especially for programming stuff.

The folks who already know the material seem to be the ones winning in the WGU model. The flat rate model seems financially deleterious to folks who take 4 yr schooling model, because you would'vepaid the same thing as a brjck and mortar student and received a tenth of the support (facilities, lecturers, tutoring, study groups, counselors, labs , technical coursework, internships, etc) that a traditional student gets.
