I don’t know if it’s a full on attempt to tank for the 4th seed. Pacers can just as easily tank to stay at the 4th.

The East is pretty much set. 3 and 4 seed is separated by 2 games; 5 and 6 seed is separated by 2 games. And all 4 have 3 games left.

If New York defeats Detroit tonight:
• New York is locked into the third seed.
• Indiana is locked into the fourth seed with a win OR a Milwaukee loss.
• Milwaukee is locked into the fifth seed with a win AND an Indiana win.
• Detroit is locked into the sixth seed with a Milwaukee win.

If Detroit defeats New York tonight:
• New York is locked into the third seed with an Indiana loss.
• Indiana is locked into the fourth seed with a loss AND a Milwaukee loss.

Yeah, I don't think it's tanking. I think they're confident they can beat Brooklyn if they have to, so they're resting guys that have lumps and bruises while they can.

...it also takes away a chance for Detroit to play against and scout New York's full healthy line-up, since that's the most likely playoff match-up.
