It's clear they're a cut below world class. Hopefully they give a spirited effort in the playoffs and let's see what moves Rose and co have in store during the offseason

If my theory is that they won’t Fire Thibs but you let him and his guys join the FO is correct. Then Mike Malone is probably the best coach they could hire to replace Thibs. He goes back with Thibs to being one of Van Gundy’s assistants, and there has always been a lot of mutual respect between the two of them. Malone is also from Queens.





Clearly there is a lot of mutual respect, and Malone likes the Knicks roster.

Whereas while it isn’t talked about enough, the Nuggets roster got gutted by the new CBA. The Knicks meanwhile have dealt with the new CBA better than most. Jokic is a MVP quality player but the rest of that team outside of Murray who can’t stay healthy isn’t near elite. The last thing I want to add is Malone isn’t perfect, but he is willing to experiment with his rosters and he has had legit playoff success. If you’re going to replace Thibs but not fire Thibs. Then they need to bring in someone he respects and who has a championship as a coach. The Nuggets made a mistake firing Malone, Booth did a really bad job with that roster when it came to adapting to the new CBA. The Knicks should take advantage of this.

I am not out here saying let Thibs go for Jenkins. Malone might be the best coach to hit the market in years, and he and Thibs came up together under Van Gundy.

It doesn’t matter that he’s not Andre Roberson, him being guarded like he is in an overtly exaggerated way is extremely detrimental and teams won’t move away from it cause there’s no reality where he decides to hit like 7 3s in a game. He literally won’t give you the volume to truly foil that defensive scheme. Teams will live with Josh taking 5 3s and even if he makes 4 of them your other 85 possessions are you fighting with one arm behind your back.
Josh ain’t even the issue, he’s just a symptom of the bigger issue and it’s a coach with blind spot. Josh played 29 straight minutes when he shouldn’t even play 29 total minutes against a defensive scheme like that. There’s inherit value in the things he does, but they get muted by elite teams. We be putting that man on the court with multiple guys who can’t shoot and hope Jalen and Kat can bail us out.

Hart shouldn’t even be on the floor for a last-second shot coming out of a timeout on offense…the same way Brunson is not usually on the floor for a last-second shot coming out of a timeout on defense.

To be fair, Josh has been known to make big plays crashing the boards and shyt. I just wish they’d use him as a back door cutter from the corner or something instead of in the main actions.

Him cutting on a 7 footer does nothing. We have to use him in the action cause we won’t create an advantage any other way. It forces the 7 footer to have to defend SOMETHING cause it ain’t Josh. There’s a measure of off ball actions you can run but thibs isn’t that creative.

cavs went from middle of the pack offensively last year, with barely roster turnover and now have a top 5 offensive rating all time
