I'd mix it up with airbnb, and hostels based on what you want to spend. Also depends how long you'll be there for. Equity Point is a great hostel chain, they have three in Barcelona and others throughout Spain.
pisocompartido.com to rent flats longer term
hostelbookers.com hostels/hotels
skyscanner.com cheap flights
the train is useless in Spain and overpriced
Buses are good but some of the trips are long, take them over night if you have to go far so you can save a nights stay worth of cash.

Stay out of El Raval at night, and always be on your A game anywhere in the city. It's a seedy city, don't let the glitter fool you. Never carry your passport, or more money than you're afraid to lose. I didn't even carry around my credit cards. Lock your bags, if you don't have a locker, lock your pack to your bed. Try not to piss in the streets(illegal), drinking in the streets is hit or miss(it's technically illegal in Barcelona now), be wary of the police, but courteous if you encounter them. Reading above tell your girl to be mindful of her purse if she carries one. meet your new best friend [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Eagle-Creek-Travel-Gear-Cable/dp/B001M0O0EE/ref=sr_1_19?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1366963599&sr=1-19"]Amazon.com: Eagle Creek Travel Gear 3 Dial TSA Lock and Cable: Clothing[/ame]

Ok, now that, that is out of the way. It's a great a city, with an epic night life, like all of Span. Lots of tourists, expats, college students, and beautiful women from around the world. People are generally laid back, great conversationalists, just trying to get drunk, do drugs, and have sex. Lots of fun bars, clubs, beautiful architecture, and did I mention it's on an ocean with a great beach?

Near U Barcelona there's a lot of great pubs, xiample, the other great bars are tucked away in bari gotic. clubs are up near diagonal, or out in problenou

george payne, first bar, travel bar, moog(club), soul rebel, ryans pubs(cheap beers), W(high end, the sail hotel in the harbor, take a cab)

one of my friends also owns a pub and a buddy is the bar manager feel free to pm me when you're out there for the info.

i would stay in bari gotic, gracia, or xiample everywhere else is out of the way

have fun

@ me or pm me if ya need anything
:salute:

I highly suggest Granada, Sevilla, and Madrid( I actually like Madrid more than Barcelona as a city).

The women in Seville are probably the best in Spain, they're all classically beautiful, followed by Madrid.

Barcelona's saving grace is all of the foreigners.
Some of the Catalan women are stunning, but the majority seem pretty rough, if you know what I mean.

Take wifey on a vacay for a few days and get away from the kids

If only. I was one of two seniors on the trip, it was for basketball, well when i left highschool i passed it on so that future generations might learn:smile:

If i went now it'd be a whole different story.

Oh and nude beaches sounds good but as it turns out the only people who like to bare all are generally :flabbynsick:

yeah i remember specifically how "rough" the northern area got. Great food though:smile:

I got hooked on the sandwhichs they sell there :( Provolone + Fresh Bread + meat shaved off the bone right in front of you = :ahh:

My wife's family is from Seville, 2 generations removed but i keep telling her we'll go visit someday. Beautiful beautiful place.

Man, that main square in old Marrakech has some delicious fukking food, especially the fish and calamari. I tried the goat head's soup too, but it wasn't my thing.

Yeah love it. I ate there most nights when I was in Marrakech.
There was one sandwich at a stall which was like a boiled egg, oil, and chillis so good and cost nothing. The guys would jam em out like ten at a time.

Another blessed year.
