If you voted for Obama or Romney and are celebrating this, you're a hypocrite. The federal government is just going to have the DEA conduct raids in CO and Washington; and its going to keep pushing its drug prohibition agenda.

I just don't see how you can believe in a state's sovereignty if you are just going to put people in power that won't respect that notion

Eric Holder is amassing his troops right now to start kicking in doors in Washington like they have already been doing in Colorado for the last four years.

they're gonna have to figure it out. but this is all inevitable, and what needs to happen in order to push the issue forward. fear of this is why cali didn't pass prop 19, and then the feds fuct them anyway

it's definitely progress because the feds don't have time to bust individuals for possession, and that will no longer be the business of the local police. but only time will tell how all this will turn out

Anyone worrying about Obama and the Feds. It won't happen. He only was hardcore last time cause of politics. Now he's re-elected and I expect him to pull the dogs off of the War On weed. Colorado and Washington. Salute, you did so much for the Weed Smokers of America. Now we will see your model and hopefully the rest of the country follows. 21 States already have legal medical. Hopefully they go from Medial to Recreational.

:what:

"The Department of Justice's enforcement of the Controlled Substances Act remains unchanged," read identical statements issued by the U.S. attorney's offices in Denver and Seattle. "The department is reviewing the ballot initiative here and in other states and has no additional comment at this time."

State laws can be ruled invalid when they "frustrate the purpose" of federal law, and the DOJ could sue to try to block the measures from taking effect on those grounds.

Do you not understand how much money alcohol and pharmaceuticals are going to lobby to make this shyt not happen? Our stoner money doesn't stack up against big business.

I think that Obama now has his second term, he ain't going to flip flop on the issue no more

Besides, the Drug Czar hasn't said sh*t yet
9 past Drug Czars tried harrassing the current drug czar into saying something while on a conference call with them, and the top dude still ain't say shyt

I can see drug cartels kicking the goverment back money to keep things like marijuana illegal

not to mention the fact that federal law rules over state law at anytime.

So in reality it will still be illegal under the criminal code.

This is gonna be a dog fight between federal and the state. We'll see who will come out on top.

Feds can't do anything if the state doesn't cooperate

99% of weed busts/arrests come from the states, DEA isn't going to send all its 5,000 agents to run around Colorado arresting people growing weed in their back yard or basements while the local cops give them the trollface

Constitution doesn't say Feds can determine state criminal law either, and Supremacy Clause only applies to enumerated powers, not anything the federal govt does (see drug scheduling) so they should win there too.

if the feds want to just sit on the borders of these states, I'm sure they'll have plenty to keep them busy

There is far too much public pressure to go backwards, especially from the younger generation. The support for recreational use is only growing each year thanks to the younger generation. Imagine in 10 years from now:wow:

The Mayans predicted this...with Obama's reelection it is the end of civilization as we know it. Weed is legal now, the stock market has plummeted and drug dealers are making rap songs called "My President is black" all within 24 hours. There's more to come...expect gay marriage to be legalized and for the warden to open the prison doors lol.

I don't see how republicans can say they want to respect state rights and NOT vote for it.
