There's a few cuts that deal with the identification problems of black people in America. I respect all views, and am curious about preferences and why.

I prefer AA because it is the most current designation that we have collectively decided on as opposed to the identifier that we have been assigned by the majority.

While it's true that most "African"-Americans have never been to Africa, every time I hear a black person use that as a reason for why they don't like the designation, it seems like they're unduly proud of their American heritage and are on some Uncle Tom "I ain'ts no African. I's an American just like you, Mr Boss Man!" BS.

It's ridiculous to me to focus negative attention on the term African-American when there are much worse terms that would take priority in my mind as far as what we should disavow (i.e. "******, nikka").

will you ever see a black person as just an american? If not what would it take for you to see AA as part of the whole?

I dislike it because when you say "african american" you think basically a black person, but mentally omit other ethnicities coming from africa

my dad is technically african american :skip:

I dunno, personally I've come to consider "blacks" nothing more than Africans on the Western Hemisphere. All of us that fall under the category of "Black" have ties to the motherland in some way even if its many generations removed so why not claim it? That's just my thought but frankly, humans gotta collectively evolve from all these stupid ass labels.
