We visited Ralph Lauren's soon-to-close flagship Polo store and saw why the brand is struggling

The amount of blasphemy in this thread. Scust.

Polo has timeless styles for grown azz nikkaz who want quality. I got Polo that I've had for years still going strong. Got sh1t from when I was a kid that's still ill. Problem with H&M and all these other discount brands is the fits are crap and ghe quality is sh1t. H&M, Zara, Express is not lasting 5 years. It's all disposable crap. If that's what millenials are looking for then fukk em. More for me. I'll be hitting up the outlet when I get a chance.

One thing I will agree on is pricing in this economy is high. It's either high end or low end. Folk aint paying money for mid tier sh1t. Which is why you'll see RL, Gap, etc struggling.

How's Hilfigger doing btw?

Hm Zara express are vegan leather jackets as far as their scope and aim.
Make you pay over the cost for their ebay four to twenty five dollar specials they hoard and put special accents on if any.
Then like a vegan leather jacket seller waits for you to come back next year with no quality or brand loyalty in their products.
After your previous fake leather jacket cracked to death.

This what the fly cats wanna rock nowadays, rl polo will never be played out but it took a backseat, they aint tryna adjust to a urban demographic like moncler did, so its on them,.

They been woulda made a killing among the splashy crowd if that teddy bear was brought back to the forefront imo

98% of people are not going to pay the amount of money Neil Barrett, Gucci and Thom Browne are asking for, simply for a polo shirt. I mean, if you got it like that, more power to you. (speaking in generalities)

RL will never fall off in terms of quality of clothing and classic appeal, everything comes in cycles but a lot of these dudes gonna be looking like clowns in their photos 15-20 years from now rocking some Givenchy garbage bags :mjlol:Looking like they got into a fight with a painter.

If someone were to rock some black jeans and a black t shirt with that bomber and boots on the far right... thats dope imo.

I think all brands that appeal to the prep aesthetic are copying from eachother's designs, tbh. That includes VV, LL Bean, Land's End, Orvis, Barbour, J. Crew, KJP etc.. I went looking for a Norwegian crewneck sweater this past winter and I saw some variation of the sweater at almost all of these stores even though LL Bean is the originator.

This thread is actually pretty funny because I didn't know black folks were so into RL.

Let me hip my brehs to some game. RL and brands associated with it do not really have to be "creative." While trying to attract millenials, they are only really trying to attract those who are into the prep aesthetic. What is this? It's a classic, timeless, non-trendy look. So while some of you wonder why some of RL designs are kinda boxy and not really with the "trendy" hip hugging design that is prevelant today, the company wants to ensure that it is designing pieces that would not be out of place in the 1960's, 1990's, 2000's, etc. This means not really being guided by current trends or looks. This means designing clothes that didn't go out of style when bell bottoms went out of style, or baggy fits went out of style, or when skinny jeans go out of style. Or when most of the pieces that one finds at Uniqlo, Zara, or H&M goes out of style. The thing here is, you can date most of the clothing at these places. With prep brands you really can't.

It's funny, someone mentioned that the "prep" look is going out of style. It actually isn't. I've been seeing a huge resurgence of it. Especially if you work in industries such as law or finance. The prep/trad/ivy look is increasingly becoming sort of a currency within these fields. It's low key the look of power.

If it's going out of style with mainstream black folks (if it ever really was in style), that's because we're just trendy by nature or more prone to influence or adopt current fashion trends.
The "granola" Prep is a little more trendier I think.

I think people like the prep style because it can be professional but its more comfortable and fun. The Prep look is really just spring and summer business casual.
