despite that salido just has a bad style for lomachenko. heres one of lomachenkos fights from the amateurs.

lomachenko scrapes by selimov with a sd in this fight which was close to going either way. but the thing you are looking for is lomachenko being unable to really get going against this guy. just cant let his hands go and he is getting tagged with good shots. does the pattern of this fight look familiar? its the same pattern from the salido fight. tough guys coming forward not scared to get their hands moving. big difference from these guys just covering up not throwing punches and letting lomachenko run over them.

heres another one of his fights from the amateurs.

its another one where lomachenko doesnt just run over his opponent. whats the difference? the kid he is fighting has a step back. so when he tries to run in and pity pat him he gets greeted with a step back instead of a stationary target. big difference. when lomachenko gets inside he grabs him so he cant just shoe shine him and build up a workrate for free at his expense. the effect of those things is that lomachenko doesnt just run guys out of the ring the way he does when he is in there with guys who cant or wont do some of these kinds of things.

but what's the significant difference between Salido and the likes of Rocky Martinez, Sosa or Marriaga?
I like to categorize fighters not just in the 3 basic categories like Puncher-swarmer-boxer, etc... but in my categorization these fighters all fall into the same category, the brawler /not as a pejorative term/ they all usually willing to take one to land one, can indulge in phone booth wars, don't really rely on jabs, etc... and Salido went life and death with Rocky Martinez 2X.

This is why I can't really figure out why Salido beat Loma while the other three got humiliated by him...
none of them is afraid to get hit but still only Salido was effective against Loma
Is Loma btter than he was against Salido? Yes. Is he better by that big of an extent? I don't think so. There's gotta be another explanation.

I think it was the jump in competition in his 2nd fight, the rough house/dirty tactics, and the weight advantage is why Salido won.

But I agree with your post, thats just the explanation I have for that fight.

its because they all covered up against lomachenko and salido didnt. covering up keeps your hands at home and guys like lomachenko see it and wont let you punch back. its the calzaghe effect.

salido didnt cover up and put himself in jail like they all did. he kept coming.

Ok @Yuzo

Let's make sure we discuss how Lomachenko beats Rigondeaux after that fight breh:mjpls:

Don't go missing:obama:
I agree with you that Loma beats Rigo. There definitely will be a size advantage and it will play a role, but Rigo fans have jumped on the Loma don't want it hype train and not worried about the weight, so as you have said nullifying their use of weight to discredit a Loma win.

That said, Yuzo does have a point I agree with. The best way to Loma is to force his hand, not let him dictate, and give him some pressure so he can't set you up as much. The past (not just Salido) has shown it is the way to slow Loma's offense and force him to think and keep his hands from being moved as much. Not what Yuzo's point doesn't consider is I think the Salido fight was a major learning experience for Loma and I don't think he will get bullied or as gun shy in the same way again. You can already see since Salido he fights dirtier and is willing to retaliate.

Yuzo may be our technical ring breakdown God, but he can be wrong from time to time just like anyone else. Still remember he picked Cotto to beat Canelo and I was shocked.

that's clear I was just wondering all of them being pretty much the same style what makes Salido different than them
Guess he's the toughest mfer out of them

The pivotal point in Rigo vs Loma is whether Rigo can at least keep Loma hones with his punching power.
I have no doubt that he's gonna connect but will it be enough?
Loma isn't a physical fighter btw so his size advantage won't play that big of a part like if he would be one but it's still gonna be significant.

However if Rigo can keep him honest or hurt him with his left hand then I can see Rigo UD him, Rigo is a master of distance I'd say even more so than Loma and has a longer reach than Loma. He has Loma level reflexes and speed too so if his power is enough I can see him winning keeping the fight on the outside all night leaving Loma struggling to get inside and land punches.

Rigo also isn't known for letting his hands go though.

When Loma is beating on that dude, and got Rigo freezing up, I cant wait to hear what new analysis is going to come out from the "Lomachenko is overrated" crowd after the fact:ahh:

Rigo just gonna move away and slip won't stand in the corner in a high guard waiting for something to happen

He's gonna circle around and tag Loma with straight lefts occasionally while Loma couldn't really get close to him and land combinations on him.
IF Rigo will have enough power to keep him honest of course...

And Rigo is the one with a questionable chin...that has been found by fighters with not an ounce of the skills Loma has.

The problem with a lot of Rigo stans is they share traits with Floyd stans. Criticism is not accepted for their man, but they will be quick to criticize why the opponent cant handle their guy. Rigo is a great fighter, but isn't perfect. I like Rigo vs. almost anyone, but I would pick Loma to beat him.

Rigo never presses the action though....Loma will dictate the flow of the fight.

Loma is going to win rounds strictly off of activity. Mark my words.

that's not a characteristic of Floyd or Rigo fans that's a characteristic of all "stans" and I don't mean stan now jokingly as we use it around here.

Everybody presses against Rigo but so far nobody was good enough to keep the fight at a favorable distance to them, it was always they chasing Rigo who moves away and pops them from the outside.
and Rigo has a longer reach than Loma too so on paper he could fight the same way

Yep. I wont be surprise if Loma drops him 2+ or more in the fight. Matter of fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Lomachenko KOs him completely:manny:

If lower level fighters can knock you down, what happens when you face a guy who's won via KO in 7 of his 9 wins:yeshrug:

So Rigo is going to go backwards the entire fight from Loma, who will be coming forward, playing to the crowd (which will also sway the judges when Loma is pulling his "look at me, I want to fight...he's running" antics), and throwing many more punches?:mjpls:

Yeah....I don't wanna hear Rigo was robbed at all, because that gameplan plays into Loma's favor. Yall were just talking about how Salido fought him and had success, only to bring in a much smaller fighter who will be backing up and throwing sparingly just trying to counter?:jbhmm:

This fight is going to be fun:heh:
