You're far more knowledgeable than me but I guess that those who cover up are annoyed by his pitty patting and those who don't aren't. The pitty patting manage to make fighter put their guard up for fear of getting lit up by a real punch. When the guard is up, then Loma can do his pivot stuff and bamboozle his opponents. Salido wasn't having that and managed to bully Loma as he was way too green for this kind of challenge. The dirty tricks Salido used was a good awakening for Loma and it's good thing that that L came early because he came in the pro game thinking things would be sweet. I don't think 2017 Loma lose to 2015 Salido because even a green Loma managed to adjust his game in the in that fight and put up with the challenge in the second half of it to the point that he had Siri hurt in the 12th.
Also, we know Loma isn't careless as he was yesterday against true opposition. Against Axeman he start the clowning/in your face/hands down stuff only at Round 5 but if I recall right, before that he was careful.

its because if he lets his hands go against another guy who is willing to let his hands go he doesnt get into one of these one sided i get to throw a lot of punches while you just turn into a statue and cover up for me type of fight. he gets into a war. now that is a very different situation.
he wants to get you to keep your hands glued to your head so you are always too busy blocking to throw a punch back at him. thats why his workrate goes way up. thats why he throws a lot of pity pat punches. it allows his workrate to keep coming consistently enough to keep it so your hands are always blocking instead of punching. thats how he beat all those guys in the amateurs. thats how he wins these fights. his workrate goes way up. your workrate goes way down.
