All this talk about racism in schools and society. This recent conversation about black men needing therapy and our mistrust of people(even bw) who can't necessarily identify with our struggles completely. It's the case everywhere in society. Where we go to school, work, general media. The portrayal of black men is the worst. And the statistics bare that out as far as educational attainment and financially, we are the worst off.

But enough studies have been done. More black male teachers leads to positive gains for young black men. And I'm sure it's the same in the workplace where it can get lonely.

Mentoring. It only takes a couple hours a month. Organizations like Big Brother, Big Sister don't require that much, but we're even underrepresented there. As a black man whose worked for years with youth in the foster care system...we're terribly underrepresented there and they're always looking for black men to help these black youths.

We can connect with them uniquely. And help the youngins navigate their feelings and help them become as successful or even more than we are.

Think about it. If you actually care about the state of black men in america.

I agree. I have a mentor. He’s an older black gentleman in his 60’s. He grew up in Baltimore so he’s scrappy. This man is full of wisdom. He’s a teacher at the school I tutor at for adults obtaining their GEDS. He’s dope. It’s crazy because I know a lot of young black boys and men could use someone like him. He’s teacher, part security, all therapist , and a all around good dude. We could use more of him and their out there .. just hidden gems.

The answer is clearly the father or a strong male figure that knows the child.
This has been discussed many times on here but too many people following behind natureboy and others like him.

That's true but not going to change anything for the millions of black boys out there raised by a single mother in poverty.
To be honest, me and some other brothers have started mentor programs at the local rec centers, we gotta get to these boys early :whoa: :dame: because once they teach teenage years, they've already been programmed a certain way.
It's to the point, we've had to stop them from bringing bags in the gym because of guns
