did you read the original post? decentralized communication can thwart mass surveillance. even if a person doesn't participate, that doesn't stop someone from having their photo/video taken and said photo/video being synced to any number of corporate 'clouds', to be stored and analyzed for purposes unknown by persons unknown. facebook is auto-tagging people in photos , people who never signed up to their shyt and being identified by their friends and family. familial links and network of associates are being established on people who chose not to participate.
