They were always making money. People mistook them crying about loss of revenue as them dying. Nah, they just weren't making AS MUCH as they were used to but they've always been making money. Now that are creeping on back to that point where they make an absurd amount again.
Though lets not forget that even though it is cheap and easy to distribute that file, the same can be said for the creation of the music. It's not taking someone 100k in a studio to put out some music that needs to be hand delivered/shipped around. No more flying everyone in to work on songs and putting them up. All that has changed to. Rick Ross could put out an album he recorded 100% at his home studio as opposed to burning through 500k to record it.

It's good to hear they're making money. I hope they're making TONS of money. But SHARE some of that money with your damn artists and help them out.

The music industry is literally just a collection of the best scam artists. The hustle is so immaculate. its like at one stance you hate the vileness, the base greed, what it does to the art form of music as a whole... on the other hand you just got to appreciate the single ultimate mastery of shiest, the same way you on a level appreciate beauty of a shark or a lion on the hunt as long as you aint the prey...

honestly, a lot of what dude was saying went over my head. All I took from it was: 'streaming is the big fish now. and we'll make lots of money off that.'
