Then again...i'm a staunch CONSUMER
exactly.....
I was just on iTunes and looking at The average Price of an album being like 12 bucks...
12 fukking bucks for a damn digital file...that unlike the physical cd YOU NEVER GET to own....cause u are limited to playing it on the player THEY provide unless u convert it
Marc Geiger is the founder of ARTISTSDIRECT a talent scout agency, management firm as well as sublabel imprint founded with former Interscope head Ted Fields...
it now operates as an internet media conglomerate
ArtistDirect is responsible for pushing artists such as Blink 182 and Kevin Gates
"Labels are making money again....all the advertising revenue coming from entities like Youtube, thier getting 100 million dollar checks...streaming revenue....itunes downloads has exceeded record sales in stores...
the streaming on demand model scales and subscribtion services are big money...which is why Amazon, Apple and Google are entering the game...
the labels cut costs cause THEY DONT HAVE TO DO ANYTHING as far as overhead..just MAKE THE FILES Available to entities like Spotify ...
this works well for the Labels in regards CATALOG ARTISTS (old music) where the royalty rate (which is low) has already been PAID off, and the Marketing Costs have ALREADY BEEN PAID OFF AND RECOUPED....and it's PURE PROFIT......"
