Daniel Bryan is definitely the most over WWE performer since the Attitude Era, but I wouldn't take so much away from CM Punk so quickly.
Fact is, though Daniel Bryan is a more consistent performer, CM Punk had the best matches of 2013. Not only that, but CM Punk's matches with Cena are always better than Daniel Bryan vs the same opponent.

YOu got the big 3. Hogan, Austin, Rock. But after that, it's a toss up. Hitman and Shawn MIchaels could get over as faces or heels. THey knew how to get heat. I think as far as popularity, D Bry is right there. He may be 4th all time over HBK, Taker, Cena or Bret

Daniel Bryan has more popularity and mainstream recognition than Shawn Michaels or HHH ever gotten

But lets be honest...

what EXACTLY in the context of wwe programming are audiences supposed to give a single fukk about? you cant pretend like the booking of the shows doesnt stunt and take the air out of everything it touches... there is just no way around it no matter how great bryan is or could be. You can put any talent in history into this system and they will just be running in place on a hamster wheel every single week until nobody cares just like anything else that gets over nowadays.
