49ers..Braves..Celtics
1)Hardly anyone pitches to contact
2) Pure Contact hitters are unicorns In today's game as is
3) Running game is all but dead & only situational
4) as great as the shift is to save a lot of wear & tear from long innings ... it's all but killed the pull hitters in baseball.

Well i don't have trouble with that... Braves do run.. they also go for extra bases.. They also have some contact hitters. i get what you mean but your team plays a trash brand of baseball as well.. so you see more of that..

For now. You know as well as I do that roster turnover especially in the costal divisions (AL/NL EAST (AL/NL WEST) happens very often.

But.. Acuna and Albies are signed to sweetheart deals and they are two of the most exciting players in the NL.
Just be greatful y'all cats got your chip

...Even after being sanctioned & unfavorably penalized by mlb , the braves can get back to stacking up thier farm again now that it's been lifted.

This thread is functioning as my random MLB thoughts thread, so apologies...

In recent years much of the talk around great shortstops centers around Derek Jeter, A-Rod, Nomar Garciaparra -- and to a degree you've seen great seasons from Troy Tulowitzki, Carlos Correa and so on.
But one of the greats who always gets forgotten in these discussions is Ernie Banks. Part of that may be due to Banks playing half his career at Short, and the other half mostly at First base.

If you were to look at his career at SS, which amounts to his first 9 seasons, you get a standard slash line of .290/.353/.552 with 298 home runs and 858 RBI.
By comparison, Jeter's career through age 30 (similar to Banks), you get a slash line of .315/.385/.463 with 150 home runs and 693 RBI.

And considering that Banks was a much, much better defender the gap is even larger.
If it weren't for the fact that Banks had to battle Mays, Aaron and Frank Robinson in the 1950s for NL MVP, the public might view him in a much brighter light.

Baseball is littered with guys like that, that get overlooked but were really good.

My Pops Forever RIP
fukk wasting tax payer money...take him out back and fill his head with lead

anyway...maybe it's the fact I don't watch or listen to these sports talk shows but I feel like this lockout ain't getting brought up at all
Part of it is that football is going on, but the other part is that we knew this was coming a long time ago, so for now we're just waiting and it won't become a big deal til games start getting missed.

If Spring Training doesn't start on time, it's gonna be an every day topic. On top of that, a ton of players haven't been signed yet. Right now I'm watching DR World Series followed by the Caribbean World Series coming up right after. I'm just hoping it's not the last bit of baseball til minor league season starts.
