Had a chance to have people talking about the sport in a positive light, even if Clayton gave up a walk or hit. But nah, you pull him before he could finish or blow it and now people will be shytting on your sport :francis:

Yep. A no-hitter and I would understand. But wow, he was dealing … that was a stress-free 80 pitches too.

It's just maddening. I understand the logic(it's April, they're playing in Minnesota, it's near freezing, they didn't have a full ST) but I just don't agree with it. Let the guy give up a hit or a walk or something. There's only 23 perfect games in the history of MLB and you could use some good press right about now.

Pull a guy pitching a perfect game after 7 innings with only 80 pitches :why:

What is with these managers nowadays with low pitch counts pulling guys? 2019/2020 saw two consecutive Game 7’s where guys were DEALING and the managers pulled them with relatively low pitch count and both managers lost the WS. fukk these guys :leostare:

It's not the managers, it's the GMs - teams are basically run by committee and decisions are largely made off of analytical data

I get the analytical side of baseball. I just don’t agree that GM’s are making decisions to pull guys in critical situations due to analytics. They still pay Managers to manage the game.

I'm telling you, they're hiring the guys that run what they want to have happen. If X then Y. That's how baseball is now from the tactical standpoint. Managers are still important for motivational purposes over the 162 game schedule but the in-game stuff is all from up top.

The "analytics" boogeyman has done far worse things to the game than convince someone to pull a pitcher after 7 perfect innings. I get it...but given Kershaw's history and the team's sole season goal, letting him go to 105 pitches in April isn't a smart decision.
