Texas QB Murphy to portal, won't be CFP backup
Texas backup quarterback Maalik Murphy is entering the NCAA transfer portal, he told ESPN. He will not be with the Longhorns for the College Football Playoff.
It's not unexpected, as I'm sure he knew Arch was up next. I hope Maalik goes to a great program.

You krazy if you think Maalik was going to be the number 2 QB next year. It was going to be Arch. Also, I'm still not sure Ewers is coming back, especially if he balls out in the playoffs. Ewers would be smart to go the draft if he does well in the playoffs.
Arch has yet to beat Maalik out at any point thus far. People expected him to come in and be better than Maalik from jump, Spring game showed us that was false. Then he was going to beat Maalik out in Fall camp, and when Ewers went down Maalik got the call, even with a hurt back. Sark said the only reason Arch went in against Tech was because Maalik got hurt, which was shown to be true in the Big 12 CCG. Y'all keep pushing back the date when Arch is supposedly going to jump Maalik and it never happened. Sark wasn't going to be pressured to play Arch are elevate him to please our fan base. There was no guarantee he was going to be QB2 next year.
Caden Durham currently going off against North Shore in the state title game is another reminder why I wish UT had made him a priority.
Our RB is already stacked and all those guys have shown they can produce. Who would you take out the room for Durham, who I'm not sure will be an every down back at the next level?
