OL wasn't as bad as I thought on the rewatch. Majors and Okafor need to be benched though. Both were flat out missing assignments and getting beat. Majors really bad. Jones might be better with a better guard next to him. Card has to know when Arky is dropping 8 if no one is open he either needs to run or check it down. WRs were open but Card was dropping his eyes too much and late on reads. Deep ball was also there and Card either didn't let it fly or couldn't connect. Casey came into the game and was much more comfortable and decisive. He needs to start or he may not wait until the end of the season to transfer and Sark might lose the locker room. Whittington had a really bad game. On defense I have no idea why we didn't stack the box and force Jefferson to beat us with his arm. Majority of the time we had 6 in the box, that wasn't going to get done. We also missed a ton of tackles.

Ehhh... disagree. Even though I root for Casey because of my #BlackQBAgenda, based on what you saw in spring game & what we heard during fall camp, Card is considered the better passer. Not to mention, Card was a better passer coming outta High School.

We lost Milroe because Yurcich gave him a cold shoulder when he was hired and started recruiting other QBs. Hornsby is a big project. Sark went with Card because he had the better arm, if Card is more athletic that Casey that is yet to be seen. Casey should be the starter going forward. He is much more comfortable in the pocket. But apparently Casey is a malcontent during the week.

$9.95 talk.

:ehh:Correct. I've been rooting on Casey to win the QB since at least the bowl game, so I never was on board with Card.

:beli:

IT is in business w/ Card. Can't take them seriously anymore on this QB debate. Their subscribers were calling out their mods after the game for covering for Card's bad play.

Card was bad, there were open receivers that he missed, he also doesn't know hot to properly escape the pocket. I don't care what defense Arky was playing in the 4th Q, from what we have see Casey is obviously better when the lights come on. If y'all have some free time to waste here is the skycast of the game so you can see what Card was seeing. Also the defense played pretty well in the 1Q, well enough to have establish a lead if the offense was able to do anything.

This is why I said before the game that it would be dumb for Casey to transfer until Card proved himself on the road. Hopefully, Casey runs with his opportunity. I felt he should have been given the reigns b/c of the patience/loyalty he showed over the years UNLESS Card was above and beyond better than him in offseason camp. I don't think that was the case, so the decision to go with Card was a little surprising to me.

Bijan knows.

“I thought [Thompson] showed a lot of poise and calm in the pocket, delivered the ball down the field,” he said. “So all those things add up to, ‘hey this guy deserves his chance’, and I feel good about it.”

Running back Bijan Robinson said Thompson’s experience is crucial and that he brought a level of composure that Card lacked against Arkansas

“With [Thompson], I know he has a little more experience than [Card], and he can make some reads or make some calls that he might have seen you know before, as he’s been here,” Robinson said. “When [Thompson] got in there, he looked really calm. Nothing really rattled him, nothing really fazed him. He just looked comfortable in the pocket and made the right reads, even when he had to tuck it and run, he still looked confident when he was doing that.”

As for the future, Robinson is happy for Thompson and believes the team needs to rally behind him.

“I am happy for Casey,” he said. “I just know that we just need to execute and ride with [Thompson] moving forward.”

Why hasn’t Texas had a top black QB recruit since VY? Seems they missed on plenty (Murray [twice], RG3, even fukking Kenny Hill). Seems to me the answer to all their issues is pretty obvious.

VY is a pretty high bar breh. Swoopes was to raw, Heard was a project that didn't work. Outside of Murray I can't think of anyone we missed on unless I'm forgetting someone. We have Maalik Murphy coming in the next recruiting class.
