I think Urban’s in play no doubt. He could bring Ewers back imo. Problem is, if he turns down an offer behind closed doors, I can see Texas sticking with Herman.
Herman doesn't have any friends in the program. And the donors hate his guts. Makes sense.. but I see you guys in a situation somewhat similar to Michigan’s. (Strictly wins and losses type thing, bc they love them some Harbaugh) I’m not sure Texas would take a flier on another ‘up and coming’ coach to right the ship. Your donors are gonna want as close to guaranteed success as possible. Who could bring that? Stoops? (We know he’ll never coach OU) Who else (other than Urban) can guarantee that? I’m drawing a blank.

that’s my other point, urban isn’t familiar with the Texas landscape, he thugged it out in Florida, plus it’s a money thing too, but I’ll let you boys direct the talk since y’all know more than me

Just know that Texas is one of the only schools in the country with deeper pockets than Michigan. Add on top of that, then hunger to win. And being in the south. And how football is everything there. I can see them throwing 10m per at Urban. Would he/could be turn that down? He’d still be able to recruit Florida, Cali, Ohio, and now Texas to an even greater degree. I think urban in Texas.. with all the resources is a damn near guarantee for success.
Edit: also.. coaches like Kerry Combs and Larry Johnson are loyal as hell to urban. I can see them joining his staff in Texas. That would be a double whammy. Strengthen UT with some of the best coaches in CFB history AND hurt OSU big time.

i understand Texas is bout that money action, and their pockets run deep, but i gotta imagine this pandemic has crippled some of their constituents and the program as a whole, that would be 3 contracts they paying out, but again never doubt Texas with a plan

So I know when it was floated Urban to Tallahassee that a lot of folks proclaimed Ole Urbs comes with a lot (not baggage). He has certain benchmarks he wants guaranteed. One is damn near authority over the program. Y’all think these boosters are willing to concede that?
