I'd fire strong after this game

Doesn't it typically take coaches 3-4 years to turn a program around? It's still early in the year and it's not like Texas was a preseason favorite, Charlie should at least get the rest of the year to prove himself. It's still plausible that Texas gets 8-9 wins.

I just don't buy into the Texas can get who they want stuff. As I've always said, we aren't a football school. We're a big school that wants to be thought of as a football school but doesn't have the you know what's to be a real football school. If we don't luck out on Mack Brown, would this even be considered a prime job?
Coaching at a "football school" can be a double edged sword.

Some coaches, especially a Mensa guy, might want to go to a place that has their priorities in order. A place where he doesn't have to do meet and greets every day at the local hardware store. That shyt gets annoying catering to a fanbase that lives and dies by the college football team. Plus Austin>>>>BR.

Its used to be like that but now with guys like Harbaugh and Urban Meyer turning around programs in one year or so expectations have changed.. plus Texas thinks their the cream of the crop so :yeshrug:

kyle porter looking like another katy system back. :snoop:

Breh I tried to campaign for Trayveon Williams to be recruited with more effort, but at the time the staff was stuck on Devwah Whaley, we didn't get either, but if you went to either of the CE King vs Central games when both were there you knew good got damn and well Trayveon was the better back and it wasn't even close. Now he is tearing it up at A&M, and we got stuck with Porter.

Don't we have 3 championships and we are second in wins all time. Sure we haven't been consistently good to great but who has? We are the flagship University in the state of Texas, and if we aren't a football school then what are we?

I'm starting to agree with you. Because if they were serious, they'd be trying to go after Saban again over Herman.

Well if that is true, there is no football school in Texas in a football mad state. There isn't a school or program in Texas that matches with UT historically. Not as many bowl wins or appearances, championships, wins, first round draft picks, draft picks period, all american etc. No program comes close tbh. I remember seeing a comment somewhere, I forgot where. But the comment was that it's hard to replace coaches that had a legend or at the least, had a great tenure. Most, not all, programs go through two or three coaches before finding the next great legend or great tenured coach. Alabama went through this between Stallings and Saban. USC went through this. Michigan went through this with Carr to Harbaugh. How long did it take for Ohio State to find a coach before Tressel? Even OU went through this between the 2nd B and the 3rd B. Texas is at this position right now unfortunately.
