something that intrigued me after watching these is this

there are illusions that are direct, meaning something physically causes the illusion. But then there are indirect illusions where something isn't actually affecting it, yet the illusion persists :jbhmm:

you missed this post, it explains it pretty well imo

We are living in a world of illusion

I am an orthodox christian :manny: i like exploring the different theological ideas but stating your belief doesnt really mean anything apparently. Living your belief means everything

take that how you will

I see I’ve already asked you about Henotheism from the old post :banderas:

At least im consistent :manny:

but my real question is if you think the name of God changes over time and is reinterpreted depending on the people/cultures/region etc....

What is the name of God to you, right now

can you say there is any WRONG name for God?

For example, Muslims think God only operates/understands in Arabic and under the name “Allah” for the Arabs (ismaelites)

Jews would say they know God as “Yaweh” or El shaddai and Hebrew language used for Israelites

Christians would say “Jesus” regardless of race/ethnicity/language culture etc

What do you say? Does it even matter to you? :jbhmm:

Or maybe you can just believe in God as a spirit force or power which doesn’t necessarily need a specific name.

Like, what would Gods name be from Gods perspective :steviej:

That’s a question to ask the Jews. @Koichos :lolbron:

Do you believe god has currently and has only had 1 “chosen” people throughout history?
I believe God can choose people at his own whim

it isnt my place to decide something like that

I’m talking according to what’s written in the Bible in history, not necessarily your personal opinion on behalf of God :mjlol:.

There’s a difference between being a “chosen people” (with a covenant for example) and God choosing someone individually for whatever purpose

Back to your last post....

how someone contemplates God typically has a lot to do with how they feel God contemplates them:hubie:

Ephesians 2:10 “For we are His creation, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time so that we should walk in them.”

All of us are potentially "chosen", some of us are wedded to walking the destructive path.

Matthew 7:13-14 "Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction. Many go in that way. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and there are few who find it."

immediate pleasure vs everlasting life... The chosen are those that decide to adhere and follow.

Matthew 13:30 "Let both grow together until the harvest, and at harvest time I will tell the reapers, Gather the weeds first and bind them in bundles to be burned, but gather the wheat into my barn.’”

True, if we are coming strictly from a New Testament perspective

the original conversation was about the Name of GOD in the OT and how to distinguish the name of the 1 true God in the midst of so many other (false/pagan) deity’s that were being worshiped

Israel and Jews being the “chosen” people as they were the ones to carry on the tradition of Yahweh and strict monotheism for the world to see and know via the Bible

it was their role in a sense to preserve Gods name (and laws) which continued up until to Jesus

of course now we (the whole world) know the God/yaweh/the father through Jesus Christ and in Christ anyone can be “chosen”

Not saying Jews/Israel no longer play a role in Bible prophecy or gods plan on earth

but without God establishing his “chosen people” how would we know truly who god is, throughout history and how would anyone remember his name?

Muslims call God “Allah” and say Arabs are the “chosen people” but everyone knows better cause Judaism is still around, established and obviously came first. Gods true name can’t be erased from history. It’s clearly all though out the Bible and even in prophets name like for example, ELIJAH

Elijah's name literally means “Yahweh is my God:manny:

anyways, makes you wonder why so many rulers have wanted to wipe Israel and the Jews off the face of the earth :jbhmm:

Part of why Jews have lasted as long as they have and prospered to this day has to be because of their faith and how they see themselves as “chosen”
