This whole "Civil War II" paradigm that we are currently put in started with the removal of confederate statues.
Ideally its a good token symbol of equality and togetherness but it does nothing to actually put us in a position of equality financially or educationally
"Destructive Symbolism"
However, This Civil War II paradigm can act as a gift or a curse depending on how we take advantage of it. If all we want from it is media attention and statues taken down then it is a curse...we are repeating the same mistakes of past generations. But what we have now is basically unprecedented, We have CEO's of big corporations distancing themselves from the President of the United States in order to appear "to be against racism" We have 24/7 news coverage of the wrongs of White Supremacy, This is the perfect time to start making demands and call their bluff on the behalf of the Descendants of Slavery/Jim Crow. The dilemma we face is that would take organization and discipline. Quite honestly, thats why I believe we are fine with symbolism because it doesnt take much to watch Van Jones crying and retweeting Obama and feel like you actually did something productive for the Descendants of Slavery/Jim Crow or the generalized "People of Color"
