Sounds like Marvel beat the odds. I think most people would agree, JL and X-Men were more highly regarded before the comic book movie wave. Things done changed.I wish both companies could just do their thing, but in this day and age everything is this vs that.
I really wanted a dope JL movie. If you asked me 15 years ago what I wanted to see Avengers or Justice League...I would have said JL all day.

Great points. Their original plan was to give Superman the Dark Knight treatment. While MoS is decent it's no Batman Begins. But still they could have kept going in that direction and made a quality trilogy. But instead they reacted to The Avengers success and made BvS.When I heard they were dropping Ironman I was then when I saw the trailers/movie
Captain America then when I saw the movie
Thor (still am with this one even though Ragnarok was kind of funny)
They really had a few perfect storms though:
- Perfect tone
- Perfect casting
- Perfect marketing
- Perfect timing
- Perfect start (Ironman)
Even though y'all know I stan MoS/BvS:
- People questioned the DC tone starting with MoS (Dark Knight movies got away with it because it's Batman)
- People questioned the casting of Cavill (I remember the 'he's not an Amurrican reactions), Amy Adams and a black Perry White
- MoS was never, if I recall, marketed as the start of a DCU - and marketing for BvS was all over the place until they actually announced it would be 'Batman v Superman'
- They also don't know how to market the actors. Before BvS there was a point where Henry Cavill was challenging 'Oscars so white', Affleck was going through alcoholism and a divorce and Zack Snyder was reported to have made that rape comment about Batman (still don't know if that was real).
- Timing was off
- MoS wasn't universally loved like Ironman was. So they were divisive from jump.
It's like the opposite of Marvel/Disney. I still think that quality wise they're not behind where Marvel was with the first Avenger movie at all, perception-wise though and JL tanking
