Legally, it would not be easy.
1. Buying $5000 worth of products at a wholesale price and selling it at retail is one possible way. The problem would be trying to sell it all in a month.
2. Gambling is a gamble and you could lose it all.
3. Manufacture custom, hand-made wood furniture. Better than Ethan Allen quality furniture. It looks rich and only rich people can afford it. Problem is I'm not a carpenter and everything would look like crap. But, if I were, the only costs would be wood, tools, parts and chemicals. Flipping that to sell direct to a buyer would more than double the $5000.
4. Become a sports agent for up-and-coming athletes. You make 10% of an athlete's contract. You use the $5000 to travel around the US and pick up prospective baseball, football, basketball, and hockey athletes. If only one of them lands a $100,000 contract that gives you $10,000.
5. Use the $5000 to hire some mercenaries. Call yourself the A-Team. Go into Mexico and take down some dealers. Take their money. That would more than double your $5000. Risk is high. You might not make it back to watch the next Channing Tatum movie.
