NYC black coffee tough guys aka the Stoozy Boys
i went to a packed showing at midnight with 3 other ppl :

- we all hated it
- there were audible groans in the theater when superman kissed lois
- dead silence when the credits rolled
- heard multiple ppl saying they didn't like it on the way out

People were going insane in the movie theater I was at, (Leows 86th), Everyone I went with, loved it. Probably because Synger left a bad taste in everyones mouth, he pretty much set the bar extraordinarily low.

also worth noting :

- henry cavill's career went absolutely nowhere as a result of it.
- superman has not had a resurgence in any other form of media as a result of it.
- not a single scene has been etched in the collective memory of the movie going public.
- they had to turn the sequel into a defacto justice league movie and call in batman to help draw.

now i know it made a shyt ton of money and i know it sold well on home video, so clearly there are ppl out there that dug it... but so did transformers.

-Cavill is going to star in the Dawn of Justice...literally the cumshot all the nerds have been waiting for.

-New 52..you must be trollin with that one.

-Superman killing Zod, anything Faora, you trollin son.

-Justice League movie was planned in the fukking 80's, you clearly haven't done any research.

It did make a shyt ton of money, as did G-Force, Transformers, Titanic, Terminator, etc. The monetary angle is therefore by default made moot by the dichotomy of good and bad movies making bank.

he's already the number 1 Superhero of all time, where else can he go? He was the blueprint for Superheroes today

the success of dark knight led to an explosion of batman related media and content. if man of steel was such a smash hit how come the same hasn't happened for superman? how come he doesn't have nearly the same exposure as he once did? i was in toys r us over the holidays and he had about 1/10 the presence that spiderman and the avengers did.

plus almost every major boys franchise has a cartoon on tv. avengers, spiderman, transformers, ninja turtles... even the guardians of the galaxy are about to have their own cartoon. where is superman? how come he ain't poppin off like that no more?
it's as if man of steel just came and went.:sas2:

Zach Synder has gone on record to say they were going to do Batman before the movie was even out

when the announcement was first made at comic con 2 years ago not a single person was expecting it.

plus there's this...

http://www.slashfilm.com/man-of-steel-2-on-fast-track-with-zack-snyder-and-david-goyer-returning/

^ basically zach wanted to make a legit MOS sequel before even toying with the idea of the justice league.

but by all means if zach is on record as saying otherwise... feel free to provide the link. :sas2:

What did Snyder say that was false?

BvS is getting Superman a little further down the road before JL?

He has a statue that's a landmark, he doesn't need anymore exposure, he's already at the top. Its not like he's a B level hero like the Avengers.

I'll provide the link when I'm home from work. I just read it yesterday

I'm not sayin he ain't as big as the avengers. He's always gonna be the #1 superhero.

But the INTEREST in the character is lower now than in year's past, especially in the wake of other superhero characters rising to prominence. Batman, Spiderman, and especially the Avengers... are all more viable right now. All because they were featured in huge smash hits. Movies that trandscended the genre. Superman hasn't had a movie like that in 30 years.

If you found man of steel enjoyable that's cool, but objectively speaking it didn't really reposition the character as a viable commodity like the studio hoped it would. He might be in a better place now than he was after superman returns, but he's still not where he should be.

But another great superman movie, a CLASSIC superman movie...would change all that.

Avengers comics still don't sell that great unless it's a #1. All the B-heroes discussed, Marvel struck gold with Guardians of the Galaxy but Thor, Hulk, Cap.. none of them have been monster successes on their own and Cap's 3rd film is now more like an Avengers title with all of the characters being introduced. Downey Jr. is the reason why Iron Man as a character got so big.

This idea that all of these B-heroes as they've been labeled are now A+ outside of the Avengers group is not really entirely accurate.

cap 2 made more money than man of steel and if I'm not mistaken thor 2 came pretty close.

not bad for a bunch of b- heroes.

like it or not they all got a push cause of avengers.

1. Origin flicks don't make as much as their sequels. Not even close.
2. Man of Steel had to wipe the stink of Superman Returns away.
And to its credit it DID wipe that stink away.

But it didn't return the character to his former glory either. Like dark knight did for batman.

who knows maybe BVS will do the job.

but I am cautiously optimistic.
