when you say the reception to a movie was "overwhelmingly positive"... that indicates the movie had to have been a classic or near classic.

man of steel caused no craze and gave way to no superman boom. it was just another summer movie. like godzilla.

not a classic.

not a movie that ppl will be talking about in year's time.

not "overwhelmingly positive".

i don't care how many ppl voted on these sites... mcdonalds also sells the most hamburgers.

Wouldn't we need another superman flick to determine if there's a "boom" or not tho? Other than comic book sales or dvd sales, what other evidence do we have to say whether there is or isn't one right now? The only comic book cartoons on tv right now are marvel products and they're all awful but their parent company is going to make sure they stay on air.

look at what happened after the first transformers movie. even though i personally thought it was a steaming pile, you can't deny the impact it had and what it did for the franchise. transformers became HUGE business. kids went APE shyt for transformers after that shyt dropped.

it's been 2 years since man of steel dropped and you tell me if you've felt the superman "boom".

Superman Unchained sold very well. Superman's ongoing is still near the top also. It's not ahead of Spider-Man or Batman or Walking Dead but it's up there. This idea that Superman is a nothing character now is laughable. Even if Batman v. Superman has a big box office this stupid debate won't be settled because these brehs won't give Superman any credit for being a draw. :manny:

no superman is absolutely a draw, and putting him in there with batman makes him an even BIGGER draw.

he is not a nothing character. he's superman. he will ALWAYS be relevant in some capacity. 50 years from now there may or may not be more avengers movies... but you could bet there will probably still be superman movies.

but RIGHT NOW, dude b slackin.

And I've seen plenty of kids going ape shyt for superman breh, how is that any different? I was just talking to a co-worker this afternoon and he said his 4 year old son doesn't watch comic book movies or cartoons but he's into superman and rocks his superman shirt on the regular. We can't just keep trading anecdotal evidence breh, we need facts and figures because to you, transformers became huge because kids went ape shyt over it while I've seen kids and adults going ape shyt over superman in my neck of the woods. There's not a day on the subway to work that I don't see a little kid with a superman or spider-man backpack so again, this anecdotal evidence shyt is pointless. We need hardcore data until then it's just a pissing contest
