you cant lead with head/shoulder or in general leave your feet in rugbu. you have to wrap tackle
plus theres far fewer stoppages and play isnt dead when a tackle is made. so obviously you get tired and cant tackle well all 1.5 hours.

you learn how to tackle properly and nto trying to be a sportcenter highlight every play and in rugby most players have specific jobs to do around the park
players
1-3 ---> mostly the unfitest players, used for scrums
4-5 --->tallest players, used for lineouts
6-8 ---> the workhorse of the team, mostly used for stealing the ball from the 'ruck'
9 ---> shortest player on the team, used to get the ball from the ruck
10 --> the most skilled player, like thw qb, used as the main guy to get the ball across the park and kicking the ball
11-14 ----> the fastest player on the team, used to finish plays to score
12-13 -----> midfield players, the link from the 10 to 11,14 on offense and defense
15 ---> the fullback, a backline player and last defender always

As a NZer I can say without a doubt that some of the tackles in rugby and league rival the tackles in the nfl. I'll post up some links later, not at home atm, as for Jonah dude is the GOAT rugby player.

Because playing with no pads forces you to essentially shoulder tackle, you won't do a helmet to helmet when neither of you as one.

... there's no running 'away' .. and in rugby league (different to rugby union) you don't have to wrap tackle..
where i'm from rugby union is considered to be the rich boy game.. and league is generally more popular in working class cities/neighbourhoods.
