I think we both are saying the same thing.
All of that decay that happened with the pandemic along with the police crying about not feeling loved after they killed George Floyd has brought this.
The answer isn’t more police and this nation over proportionally imprisons people, so “lock them up” isn’t a deterrent along with the insane religious justice that brehs in this thread are suggesting
Actually investing in children and helping the poor is an answer, along with proper intervention for those who are falling off the wagon.
Exactly, DC residents go to the Feds so criminals head to the graduate program of criminality and make more connections if they aren’t a shiesty untrustworthy ass nikka. Doubling down on policing and incarceration doesn’t break the culture/cycle of criminality at all in the city. There are broken generations of Washingtonians that have witnessed the rapid decline and now the rapid loss of their community from the 70s til today.
Not enough housing/affordable housing is a huge problem which I believe plays a role. Not to say that’s the end all be all but it’s foundational imo. Also, as I was saying, the newfound stunting culture with social media doesn’t mix well with DC. Flashy nikkaz, especially OT nikkaz, have been getting robbed for years this isn’t new or shocking. The pandemic ramped things way back up tho.
And before anyone says it, I’m not condoning or excusing the people responsible. But harsher penalties haven’t garnered results like that imo. DC still retarded as fukk.
