Was there ever a more shocking death in a movie than William Costigan in The Departed?

That shyt came completely out of nowhere.

He was the protagonist of the movie. He'd been through hell. It looked like he was close to finally getting his name cleared and ride off into the sunset as a hero.

Then out of the blue he randomly gets his brains blown out. The whole theater was like :merchant: :merchant: :merchant: :damn: :damn: :damn:

shyt like that just doesn't happen in movies. Scorsese defying all convention.

How when the entire movie scene for scene is Internal Affairs, you mean Andrew Law and Alan Mal defied all convention

When the japanese did the same thing to Unforgiven, they didn't rename the movie something else, if though it could easily based as an entirely different movie because of the setting and time period, but they did the right thing and called the shyt unforgiven

people really believe this was an original especially since scorcese got an oscar for basically copying and pasting

That's why I hate he didn't get the Oscar for Goodfellas or Raging Bull; Those were HIS movies...Departed is not his movie and he knows the Oscar is mostly fan service

I saw Infernal Affairs first and liked it but The Departed is better.

That shyt hurt my soul it was so sudden and right in the head so you knew that was it than him just killing the other two cats like nothing was shocking too

Not a movie but in Buffy when that Tara chick got killed that was pretty shocking since she has become one of the gang
