Yeah the show is colorist because yall made it that way. A lot of yall on here are getting carried away with this 24/7 militant life that yall claim to live..it comes off as fake like you're trying to play catch up to being black.

Every thread with a light skin women dudes come into a thread saying "another overated light bright" then go into another thread with a dark skin woman and go "look at this super delix chocolate queen". Its like a lot of yall are just overcompensating. Why can't the black women regardless of complexion just be pretty.

Now yall try to find the worst in a show and all logic goes out the window. Martin and Pam had love for each other but didn't like each other. Yall want the jokes to be friendly?!?! It was a comedy show. Yall are acting like Pam was ugly Betty when she had dudes after her every season. Yall gotta cut this nonsense out, laugh a little bit sheesh..its free

The people who say Martin was colorist clearly don't know that Martin and Tichina Arnold were dating IRL during the first 2½-3 seasons of the show.

Their relationship was kinda low profile.

Hence why in the stock photos of the Martin cast Tichina can be see holding Martin the same way a woman holds her boyfriend/husband when they're taking photos together.

Martin didn't start feeling for Tisha, romantically, until the 4th season.

I know y'all are referring to their respective characters but there's no way for Martin to be colorist on the show towards Pam when he was dating her IRL behind the scenes for most of the show's running.
He was probably dating both of them, and caring nothing about colorism.

Modern media is so wack now, people have nothing else better to do than to deconstruct the great entertainment that came before.

These weirdos on social media were saying the cosby show was colorist cause he had two light skin daughters.... :mjlol:

Like his two dark brown skin daughters and brown skin wife didn't exist....:mjlol:

Man fukk these idiots on social media. They say anything to get clicks and likes.

To be fair there were jokes told at Gina's expense for her being lightskinned, coming from an upper middle class family, not being curvy. The jokes on Pam came mostly from Martin and Pam gave as well as she took because Martin was short. The 90s was just different people were less sensitive.

BUT

I'm also not going to shyt on Zillenials for having a different set of standards either. Martin is a classic to me but it is also 30 years old. There are shows from the 60s thay my mom loves but I think are outdated and corny. It is what it is.

Next y'all gonna be saying Kyle Barker hated dark skinned women because of how he went at Max on Living Single.

I would believe it if you said Kyle. Based on how he talked and his name being Kyle. His true origins were always in question. But maybe he was reformed like Prince Harry after seeing Max:mjpls:.

It's funny when they talk about the show being colorist they always bring up Martin and Pam

But never mention how Jerome loved him some Pam and stayed talking about how fine she was meanwhile he stayed calling Gina "Mello Yello" :pachaha:
Part of the appeal of Pam was that she snapped back at Martin with no problem. Nobody talks about how she called him a broke boy and pretty much challenged his manhood because Gina made more than him. She killed him cause Varnell Hill made it while Martin was stuck in his career. They went in on each other pretty good but they had love for each other in the end. They actually had a relationship that a lot of us could relate to.

People using 2023 logic on 1993 jokes.

Back then, shows would have a range of light skinned and dark skinned folks to show the diversity of Black America. Martin wasn't anymore colorist than Pam...they just had sexual tension that could never be quenched so that stayed ragging on each other. He never joked about her complexion and neither did she when speaking to him.

Their jokes could be applied to anyone regardless of skin tone.
