As a kid I liked this dude. He was like an American super hero type. One of those "I stand up for truth and justice and will always look out for the little guy" types. It's good to have babyfaces have short runs like that for a while before they stick around too long and you get sick of them. One of the main criticisms of Cena is that he's got the same good guy character but he's been around for over a decade. Folks get stale after a while if they don't switch it up.

IIRC this dude was around in WWF for like 6 months to a year, got 1 or 2 title shots and was gone due to injury. Though it's messed up they just released the dude like that. He wasn't the best wrestler but sometimes you don't have to be, I thought he fit his role well.

sure he didnt fit in with the attitude era, but i think some posters dont realize that he was a free agent signing that was big long before this, hes not a product of that era.

with that said, patriot in gwf was one of my favorite wrestlers ever.

The Patriot was an old school traditional baby face. I miss the time when you could have a character like that and not every supposed face had to have some sort of edge to them.

I had to look up The Patriot in WCW to find out I was wrong. Patriot teamed up with Marcus Bagwell. Todd Champion and Firebreaker Chip were named the Patriots.

I'm was a big Captain America fan as a kid, so of course I loved this shyt. Once i got older, i realized he was an extremely roided guy that couldn't wrestle. When Bagwell is the workhorse of your team, you know you have issues.

Anyway, he did bring about that beastly theme so it's not a complete L.

Actually Bagwell was pretty competent in the ring by that time...even when he was in the NWO during the early part..he went to shyt though after he got his neck fukked up the first time by that botched bulldog...on top of his ego getting way outta control

I liked the Patriot alot. I thought he should have had a nice feud with Bret for the title, but only got 1 or 2 shots that ended in DQs. I especially liked his full nelson slam finisher

in hindsight, it makes sense. i didnt know that marcus bagwell was the handsome stranger in gwf.

i remember in 1997 the patriot was being pushed as a baby face and ended up as a dud with the new attitude era fans. he never seemed over at all

then dude got injured and it was a wrap

when kurt angle came on to the scene, he was supposed to be an all american baby face too. but creative realized the gimmick/ concept was outdated and quickly turned him into a psuedo-baby face/ heel. kurt played that role to perfection of course
