I don't think anyone disagrees that the international competition today is significantly better. But with the competitive nature of MJ, Magic, and Bird especially, and with the more serious and extended preparation time the Redeem Team had, it's hard for me to doubt that the Dream Team would have fared just as well, if not better, than the Redeem Team did in 08.
Keep in mind that the players on the Dream Team were much more adept at moving without the ball, didn't need the ball in their hands as much to be effective, had superior post presence, and bigs who could hit the midrange J to spread the inside. These are all essential elements to winning the international game.
Don't get me wrong, the Dream team>>>The redeem team. But the overrating of the dream team's "dominance" needs to stop. Those teams were garbage, they did what they had to do.
Unfortunately this thread will do numbers b/c of all the new nikkas who never saw The original Dream Team play. Most people on this board never saw a prime Malone, prime Pippen, prime Ewing, prime Robinson, prime Barkley (who led that team in scoring), Drexler had just come from off a Finals apperance, MJ in the midst of a three peat, Stockton & Magic arguably the two greatest passers EVER...the original Dream Team would DESTROY any collection of NBA talent made before or after them
what, is CP3 playing against 5'7 players now?
Magic in 1992 was on his death bed breh, he was barely moving.
who in the world would stop a trio of Durant-LeBron-Kobe,
with Wade, D-Rose, CP3, Dwight,
stop bein stuck in the 90s breh, Today's players are faster, stronger, more athletic and just better.
20 year-olds arguing about things from 20 years ago...
David Robinson, Clyde Drexler, Patrick Ewing and John Stockton were just "good" players?
David Robinson and Ewing would have ran a train on the Redeem Team's front line
