Were they really that good, or was the competition level of that era really that bad?

alotta of these guys were either average, past their prime or Michael Jordan.
The original Team
Michael Jordan - In his prime
Magic Johnson -Was retired
Larry Bird -Could barely play 20 mins a game due to his back injury
Patrick Ewing - good player
Karl Malone - in his prime
Clyde Drexler - good player
Charles Barkley - in his prime
Scottie Pippen - very good player
John Stockton - Good player
Chris Mullen - good player, but not "great" or Dream Team status
David Robinson - good player
Christian Laetner - lol

Dream Team 2 was better IMO.. if u take the players at the time they were selected.

all at there peaks.

Charles Barkley -
Hakeem Olajuwon
Penny Hardaway
Shaquille O'neal
Reggie Miller
Gary Payton
John Stockton
Grant Hill
Shawn Kemp
David Robinson
Mitch Richmond

not saying they would beat the Dream Team, but if you put all the nostalgic shyt to the side,,, this team would more than compete with the Dream Team.

this always turns into a 90s vs modern era discussion. we dont need another one of these threads. theres nothing nostalgic about saying a team of 90s cats would fukking roast the best of any other era.

throwing a squad out there like
the glove
mj
pippen
dream at the 4
shaq

charles fukking barkley, the admiral, karl malone, stockton etc coming off the pine? rodman gooning it up as the 12th man and shyt. lets just let this thread vanish to the second page

Dont think so breh. However, we create too much romanticism about the past, even in all sports. If Lebron was from any other era he would be God all hate aside. If Jordan played today he would not be as much of a mythical figure due to the media finding ways to shyt on him and his personal life. That being said, I honestly don't know as much about the game of basketball as others here so someone tell me how would the athleticism of todays players effect the game if it hypothetically happened?

That squad you listed would be Dream Team 3, officially.

exactly my point.. we were shytting on David Robinson, Ewing, Mullen, and those guys back then.. now 20 years later, all of a sudden they are God-Like?

them nikkas were Chris Bosh, Joe Johnson, Lamarcus Alridge status back then.

Kevin Durant, LeBron, Kobe, Dwight, D-Rose, CP3, would of ran a muck on these old ass nikkas. (and remember im saying in 1992, not while they were in there prime)
