There’s actually an argument for it though most will simply default (maybe rightly) to Marlo. String was as ruthless as anyone though, he was just more measured.

Plus he was ready to send Avon back just based on money/business interests, there wasn’t direct pressure on his life. Avon was essentially in a situation where either he gave String up or he was done.

U had guys that could match Stringer's hubris that also doubled as serial killers.


He had no counter for people like that &
showed too much hesitation around those types:


double-crossing Mouzone etc,
not getting Marlo out the paint immedately etc,
even working with Omar in the first place etc,


Avon knew what to do with Marlo and Omar from jump.


i actually feel like they dumbed down Stringer after Season 1.
Season 1 Stringer Bell was God-like.
they retconned breh and had him doing stupid shyt in S2, S3.
