It's because of the influx of players who spent limited or no time playing in college. So you end up with a lot of raw talent that needs a LOT of refinement in most cases.

I agree. I think the way players come up has a lot to do with it too. Back in the day nikkas got refined in college but they came in with basic elements of a post game. Now nikkas are just raw as fukk getting by on being bigger, stronger, and faster than everybody.

Michael Jordan averaged 28 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assist, 2.5 steals, 1 block, shot 51.5% from the field and led the bulls to a 9 win improvement and playoff birth

:salute:

Some of that falls on these bum ass coaches they deal with before even got into the league.

instead of teaching kids how to be well rounded players they focus on ONE aspect of their game just to deal with their current competition.

Makes me think of that little nikka Andrew Goudelock. He was able to get away with playing the 2 guard throughout high school and college but never developed solid ball handling or playmaking skills. So when he gets to the NBA he realizes he's too small to play the 2 and not nearly skilled enough to play the 1.

nikkas always saying "ever" or "all-time" and acting like shyt just started 20 years ago. It's one thing to say "greatest I have seen" but nikkas just go completely overboard with this "all-time" shyt.

What's sad is that it was par for the course for rookies to come in and beast throughout history. The extended incubation period is a rather new phenomenon.

Really all you can speak on intelligently is greatest you ever seen.. very few have the privilege to know and build with people who been around the game for all these generations.. you got people in here asking what you going off shaq highlights and that's all you got of wilt. Makes me look at someone like their stupid for bringing up nikkas that got grandkids their age

All the coaching strategies and high percentage shot coaching were not around when wilt was fukkin running around beasting.. no one watched tape or developed strategies like hack a shaq.. on top of none of us being of age to even watch em play but we gonna go back and forth about some silly ass stats :shaq2:

Unless we got a triple og in here who born in the 40s no one should have brought bis old ass up

Really? 27 posts in and nobody mentions Magic Johnson?
why would we? Larry Bird won rookie of the year

some? most of it falls on coaches.

brehs keep saying college is going to help them refine their games when their games are fukked before they enter college.

I missed the whole point.

If you don't wanna talk about Wilt or other nikkas from the past and keep the discussion to nikkas from recent history that you have actually seen I am fine with that. I only take issue with nikkas talking about "best ever" and then acting all :mindblown: when nikkas bring up nikkas from the past ie a part of "ever". Just because you didn't see someone play doesn't mean you can just ignore their existence. Why cant' something just be great or the greatest you have seen? Why does everything have to be the best ever?

Lol breh.. I think they belong in the discussion of best of all time cause they included in the phrase..

BUT IF THE OLDEST nikka IN THIS THREAD IS 30 THEN EVERYONE SAYING WILT NEEDS TO SHUT THR fukk UP

nikkas barely experts in the 80s and 90s how we gonna talk intelligently on some 50 year old game knowledge

So how, based upon the logic you just put forth, can nikkas speak intelligently on what's the best of all time?

Beyond that while there is definitely a certain value to seeing a nikka play you tryna tell me you can't recognize the greatness of Wilt or Kareem or any of the other greats because you didnt' see thm play? A lot of nikkas on here either didnt' actually see Shaq play as a rookie or weren't old enough to really understand what they were seeing anyway.

He took arguably the worst team in the league the year before to the playoffs in the western conference

:comeon: That team also added Andre Miller and Boykins and Leonard and got a full season out of Camby. 4 of their top 5 scorers (including Melo) were guys who weren't on the team the previous year.
