I think a lot of yall are underestimating the pressure Mike was under once Vito died.

The wolves was looking at him & the family like food. They were in a very vulnerable state. The other families were basically :russ: in his face. Once Mike started hitting back and showing he was 'that dude' they realized he wasn't playing no games and took a step back for the most part. Roth was the only one who really still had the balls to go at dude crazy like that.

Sonnys b*stard Vincent Mancini gotta count as well seeing as how he made him the new godfather by 3s end.

This thread is off the chain, I had both 1/2 on loop a couple years ago, I could quote them shyts. Might try to get my hands on them tomorrow:whew:

I look at Vincent as a desperation move. True he was Sonnys kid but Mike seemed to make him Don as somewhat a last resort. The bloodline is here but as far as a legit Corleome I don't count him. He wasn't raised "in the family".

Vito.

Vito was the one that build the dynasty from the ground up, was the one that was able to hold the family together, and it was HIS IDEA, not Michael to expand and become legit.

Michael, on the other hand, called for his own brother to be killed, had his wife divorced him and forced her not to see her own children, was at odds with his sister because he called for the murder or her husband, has his own son disown him, and partially responsible for his own daughter to be killed. All of this to "protect his family". Michael may had been more successful as a businessman, but he was a failure as a Don. Where Vito made it his point to HELP the common people with problems that the law either refuse or untrustworthy to help, Michael used people for his own advantage.

Rightly so. I would've just sent Fredo off somewhere he would've ended up getting killed anyway because he was foolish.
the whole Pentangeli situation made michael jumpy, he knew fredo who already betrayed him could rat him out again.

Mike's fukk up had to do more with his personal family which he paid for in the end

In terms of business, he ran that sh1t beautifully....became the top organization in the nation....even made them legitimate

So when u ask who was the better Don, i think strictly business and who had a more successful organization...which was Mike's...in my opinion
That's why this was about who was the better Don not better business man. Don is both and Vito proved himself in both to a high level.

He's the Don of a criminal organization so it is all about how u handle ur business & crime family

If your talkin bout personal family sh1t then we can talk about how mike failed his kids, wife, etc...now was Vito better at balancing both mob & family, yes...but in terms of running a organization I feel mike was a more successful/better boss/Don

But u can't go wrong with either one...they ran sh1t in different times/ eras....it's all on who u prefer

Both are great bosses Michael compliments his father as maintaining a strong business and showing his ruthlessness, Michael has no choice but to be ruthless to show other crime families theres no weakness after his pops death, plus his brother got lit up like the fourth of July in that toll booth, and the guy who tipped off was fukking your sister...Mike was ruthless as he needed to be..so much shyt has gone down ever since he came back from the Army

In the end Vito vs Michael is all about Reapect vs Fear

My favorite is Vito though, the way he came up in the game was :wow:

Well said

My favorite part of GF2 was when Vito went back to Sicily for the payback :wow:

Unrelated but I've always felt GF3 should of went with Mikes son being put in the same situation Mike was and how he would of handled it. Making him a opera singer and not even wanting to sniff the family buisness killed any sort of sequels or spins to the story IMO.

Like someone said before, fredo got what he deserved. he was a loose end that needed to be tied up. it would have ultimately came back bit mike in the ass if he didn't take care of it. at least fredo didn't see it coming :manny:

Hold up! Are nikkas acting like Mike shouldn't have had Connie's husband clipped? Are you forgetting how Sonny beat the brakes off the dude because he was slapping around his sister. Connie's husband got it easy. If Sonny would've been alive, Sonny would've watched that nikka die slow. Plus Carlo helped get Sonny clipped.

Fredo had to go. He was a human punching bad. How long until Fredo got hemmed up by the feds and started singing acapella? Vito wouldn't have liked what Michael did. But Mike did the right the thing.
